RX8 easy to gain road chips?

How's going every one! Well I got my RX8 as Blue metallic in color. what I found is it's every easy to gain chips, as the attachment shows.

My best guess is those are caused by tiny stones hit the car in high velocity(correct me if I am wrong). I know those are unavoidable, however it seems RX8 is extremely easy to develop those chips on surface?

I have a 98 corolla. I drive both cars equally often. Tho I confess I drive RX8 a little harder(just a little), for couple years with corolla, I noticed very few chips on the paint. However I've owned RX8 for only few months and I can find new chips everywhere on bumper (tons of slight chips), hood and even side doors. In fact everytime I wash or wax the car I can surprise myself with few new chips.

So does this happen to yours? do you have any recommend about how to avoid those annoying things or how to fix them? (maybe touch-up pen? some ppl told me it works like crap..)

Thanks a lot in advance!

Soft three stage paint, low car, sticky tires that pick up debris and throws it up against the lower parts of the door and especially the side valence. Yes, happens quite often.

fact of life for us sports car owners. the RX-8 chips and dents very easially. price you pay for owning a fairly light sports car. thin metal dents easially and being low to the ground, the car catches some road debris and thus chipping paint is a nasty result.

Yes, this is normal for an RX-8 and pretty much any low-slung car. Some people install Scotchgard Clear Protection Film on the front of their cars; I wish I had done this when I bought mine:

You can install it yourself…

…though I'd have it done professionally, as I understand it's easy to mess up until you've done a few cars.

I've been intrigued with Lotus' ever since the Esprit of the 80's... But I have yet to drive one. Have you driven, or taken a ride in, your friend's? How is it?

I thought about apologizing for hijacking this thread... But it seems the topic has been answered.

Yep it even has a handy "rock catcher" down below the radiator you have to clean out every now and then.

Hey everybody,
I just bought my RX8 a few days ago, so I'm new to this and I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions. But for starters, does anybody know what is the best way of removing those scratches and chips???
Thanks guys

My friend's father owns Intermecanica (Lotus/exotic track tuning shop). At least five track ready Lotus' are there at all times, from Elises, Exiges, to Esprits. With that said, I have driven slightly tuned Elises and Exiges around the neighborhood of the shop.

When people use the term 'like a go-kart', I don't think any car can specifically match the term more than an Exige or even the Elise. Perhaps a modified NA (gen 1) and NB Miata. These things are RAW. The sound of the engine behind my head, direct manual steering rack, cramped cockpit like interior, extremely low seating position, precise viewing angles of the front end and knowing where the front wheels are at all times, etc etc. They sound reasonably nice for a Toyota 4cyl too, and the cars equipped with superchargers are a blast to hear at WOT.

I cant picture a street legal track car more raw and direct than a Lotus Elise and Exige for under $100k. You really have to see once in person, sit in it, and drive it (or even be a passenger) to fall in love with one.
