Rx8 Engine Recall?

Rx8 Engine Recall?
Hi guys. I'm seriously considering buying an rx8 and found this super nice one at a dealer for what I think is a great price. 2004 touring, with navigation, sunroof, leather, etc. and most importantly, a manual tranny and it only has 51k miles. All for 7950.
My question is, if the engine is blown due to the overheating problem and/or whatever else is the cause of the mass engine failures, am I still going to be able to get a new one under the recall? As I said earlier its a 2004. I don't know how long you have to take advantage of the recall before it is too late, so I'm hoping you guys could help me out. By the way, I did ask if the engine was original and the dealer said yes.
Thanks in advance for your help!

You have some reading to do.
A) There is no engine recall. None of the recalls (5) that the RX-8 had involved the engine itself.
B) You are referring to the 8yr 100k extended factory warranty on the engine core. Which functions just like any other factory warranty, transferring from owner to owner, though getting as much of the prior maintenance documentation as possible is still best. That 2004 is almost certainly past the 8yr mark on that warranty, though it is possible that it wasn't sold until 2005, giving you a few months of warranty before it expires.
C) Read the first 9 posts in my new owner's thread for more information, including the basics around what you call "the mass engine failures".
Arm yourself with information before you start pursuing this car. Stepping in without research first is going to leave you hurt. You have to know the issues and accept them.
