Is rx8' estimated price too low?

I'm not sure if DSC is really needed on the 6. It's a FWD car that's aimed at the masses, so it's not going to have any particular evil handling traits that would necessitate DSC.
Now, DSC on an RX-8 would probably make a little more sense, since you don't want anyone to hurt themselves I'd still rather have it as an option, since I'd just leave it off anyway. The only situation where I'd really find use for it is in the rain.

yes the mazda6 is fwd and the rx8 is rwd. however, the sophisticated double wishbone front and rear "e" type five-point multi-link rear is the same. although one would assume the rx8's is tuned differently. i understand that both cars will also have mazdas new dynamic stability control. so both cars should exhibit very similar handling characteristics. the tuning of the suspension for each car is what should make the difference. and the rx8's lower center of gravity.

Similar Handling?
I guess I should have qualified that statement a little more. I intended to mean that the 6 would allow for more spirited driving than the Accord and Camry, more similar to the RX-8 than the other 2. This enables the 6 to be a more viable option if a prospective RX-8 consumer deems the RX-8 too impractical - for whatever reason.
As for the "halo" car effect, a manufacturer's halo car doesn't need to be inacessible to the masses - but typically it is. The exceptions: Mazda's halo car for the last 6 years has been the Miata, and before that it was the RX-7. Neither of those vehicles was a truly limited edition, high priced car (except the last gen RX-7). Same for the original Z cars from Nissan, and the Chevy Corvette (although the vette has become pretty pricey, anyone who wants one can get one pretty easily). The idea is to lure a consumer into the dealership with the halo car, and if that consumer deems the halo car in question to be inaccesible, unattractive, or impractical, the dealer has other cars to meet their needs.
I am just hoping the RX-8 doesn't disappoint in the performance and price areas.
