RX8 Greetings on the road

RX8 Greetings on the road
All you RX8 owners out there,
When you see pass another 8 on the road, do you acknowledge one another by waving/flash lights/head nod?? or do you just drive on by.
I have noticed while driving a vette that this happens quite frequently when you pass another vette on the road.
I am just curious.

I think the nod thing would be cool but...
I have seen two 8's. Spoke to one woman in a red one (mine is red, too). Of course this was while I was driving a Trailblazer bc my 8 was getting an oil change, oil PAN change, new airbag wire and her new tranny damper thingy. Anyway, I tried to talk to her about the recalls to be sure she was aware of them (looking out 4 my fellow 8 peeps) since I found out about them on here the day they were released to the dealers. But that woman was really snobby. I feel sorry for her 8! And for the past 3 mornings I've seen a yellow one, we cross paths. She looks snobby, too!
How rude!!

I've only seen a couple of 8's out on the road, and it seems like every time I do see one, it happens to be when I'm driving my truck instead But I've gotten lots of waves, thumbs up, etc. from Miata drivers.

I do the one finger lift. You know the one, where you lift the index finger off the steering wheel, just slightly. That is about all your going to get around here. It is a pretty friendly place, but to grin and wave and flash your lights would be dorky.

I get the Corvette wave when I am in my Wife's car, the miata wave when I had the miata, the RX-7 wave when I drive an Rx-7 or RX-8, but no wave from other RX-8s.
I am sure anyone on this forrum would wave back, however I think the target customer for the 8 is different from the Vetts, Porsches, Miatas and RX-7s. I also suspect any of the previously mentioned car type owners, if they own an 8, would also wave.
I will keep waving. I would love the streets to be filled with the 8.
It will keep Mazda building rotories.

I saw a red one on my way out last night and go t no acknowledgment whatsoever.
I pulled up next to him on the right, he didnt look, so I dropped back, went around him and pulled up on his right, he didn't look...
So I was like.. ok fine.. and just took off..
Right b4 i got to the bar, I passed a winning blue 8. He flashed at me and I flashed back.

oh lord...I had a Jeep wrangler ...is is like your duty to wave to other Jeeps. However, I am the only 8 around these parts and would welcome a few more to take some of the attention away from me. Parking lot crowds, sudden traffic jams only in my car, i even get stopped in stores when people recognize me from the parking lots. i am about to remble a get way off topic..will wind the right thread for that.
bottom line; I will wave to any rotary power vehicle i can find.

i usually get nothing from other 8 owners. 7 owners honk and i honk back.
the other day i met up with couple of 8s from this board. There was 4 of us and another 8just drove by like seeing 4 8s is a normal thing but a 7 gave us a honk

I have always had two vehicles! a fast car and a jeep wrangler of some sort. anyhow, Jeeps (the real ones, the wranglers, tj/yj/cj-5/7) all wave at eachother- or at least do the one finger (not the middle finger ) lift! well then we had some kids and my wife made me turn the last jeep (she was a monstor too- jacked with 33's) in for a normal SUV with four doors- anyhow- I still find myself waving at jeeps on the road before I realize I am not in one! we need something unique for the 8!

Back in the day, there was a whole hierarchy for what you did. It depended on what kind of car you were in, and what kind of car was being saluted. But then, that's when sports cars and their drivers were a little subculture of their own, and it was kinda like being in a fraternity.
In my 3rd gen RX7, the pop-up headlights have an auxiliary switch that can be used to raise the headlights without turning them on. If you hit the switch just right, the headlights will pop up and immediately drop back down. Sorta like the car itself is waving. That's the acknowledgment I've always used with other FD owners, and it's surprising here in SoCal how many others respond in the same way. In fact, I've never NOT been acknowledged by another 3rd gen owner.
Problem with my 8 is that I have yet to see another one on the road. But I'm worried that the lack of acknowledgment a lot of you are seeing means that a fair percentage of 8 drivers are not true enthusiasts. Crap!
