just a quick question for yee (and i have searched but have not got a definitive answer)

I am 3 weeks away from getting my new 06(i pass it every day sitting in my dealers showroom).Just one thing i was wondering when you want to turn off all traction control tcs and dsc do you press the button or hold down the button for 3 secs or hold down the button until the warning light comes on?

many thanks

First of all, it's unlikely you will get an '06 in 3 weeks since production is not expected to begin until about then at the earliest. Read some of the threads in the forum dealing with the 2006 RX-8 for more details.

As far as the DCS/TCS goes, it's my understanding that by just pressing the DSC button momentarily, you will shut off DSC but not TCS. By holding the button down for 5-7 secs, don't know exactly, you will also shut off TCS. Since you are a BMW owner, I assume you are at least somewhat experienced in controlling a front engine-rear drive vehicle under less than ideal weather conditions. But be forewarned, turning off DSC/TCS in this car can get you into trouble if you are not experienced at driving such a vehicle in poor weather. That is especially true in wet or snowy conditions.

In any case, welcome to the forum and I hope you get your car early next year.
