Rx8 held rpm while driving then died

Happened on my way to work today. I have had this happen in the past, a few months ago, but it never happened again. Greddy turbo rx8 30k miles on engine (10k of turbo miles)

I was driving on a smooth road at around 3500rpm with less than 10% throttle (no boost involved). Tried to give throttle to cruise, but nothing. The engine just held its rpm for about 200ft, when I clutched in it dropped rpm as expected and stalled out.
  • No codes yet
  • Upon attempting to start the rpm gauge barely moved.
  • I could hear the fuel pump turn on (DW300c)
  • I tried opening the throttlebody by hand, no change.
  • I tried 20 brake stomps
  • I tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes
  • I disconnected and reconnected the:
    • Eshaft sensor
    • MAF
    • Throttlebody
  • After testing all of these the battery had died out (shitty red top, and my brother stole my jump pack) I will likely swap to my antigrav this weekend
  • Spark plugs are relatively new
  • LS coils are 7 years old 40k miles
  • Last time this issue occured I swapped
    • Injectors to 80k mile clean injectors (blue injectors on the way)
    • MAF
    • Eshaft sensor
  • Engine harness may need to be checked for issues, mice are everywhere in our yard.
  • Compression is still around 95-100psi last weekend
Later today I will get someone to help me test if the Tbody is actuating. Then my next bet will be the Engine wiring harness having issues, which I have an extra I can clean up.

When you tried to start it, the gauge barely moved, but did it sounds like it was turning over at a normal starter speed? If your ESS was chewed up or otherwise damaged, it might have trouble reading rpm correctly and not firing ignition and fuel as it should. But the starter would still turn normally. If the starter didn't turn normally you might have a dead battery or some kind of jam in the rotating assembly

The engine was turning over normally and sounded fine. After the several attempts the battery did die out and it for sure started spinning slower and slower.

Im not sure if mazdaedit would let me log starting the car. However One of our OBD readers should be able to give us insight

So I got back from work and after charging the battery, it fired back up. So I drove to the gas station and filled it up with 15.4 gallons! I am betting the siphon line or the float cables have interrupted the float considering my gauge was saying over 1/8th. What is funny is I was maybe 200-300 ft from the gas station when it died that morning. I was waiting for it to go down to an 1/8th since I was trying to swap premix.

With how painful it is to open/close the gas tank, I am questioning just dealing with it.
