RX8 how to...

RX8 how to...
So my friend sent me this link on youtube that's in japanese on how to rx8. Towards the end of the clip they talk about pressing then gas then turning the key and have it in it's ignition state for 7-8 secs. While pressing the gas and turning the key the engine won't start, but showed a diagram of the rotary spinning and seems like it's removing some kind of gas of sorts.
I'm not exactly sure what it does for the engine as i don't speak japanese and didn't understand a single thing they said only thing i understood were the disgrams
. Could someone fill me in on exactly it does? and is it helpful or harmful to the engine?
I think my friend is trying to scare me away from getting a 8. Damn Z drivers!
