RX8 > Hyundai Sonata
After driving a rental Hyundai Sonata for a week or so while waiting for my RX8 to be fixed, I’ve made some interesting observations.
- RX8 owners don’t acknowledge you when you wave any more.
- Driving a car is no longer one of the most important things in your life.
- People at work don’t want to go to lunch with you anymore.
- You get more work done at home.
- No one speaks to you at the gas pump.
- Passengers in other cars don’t get into a head turning frenzy.
- You don’t want to wash the car.
- You drive faster because all you want to do is get to work and back home.
- You don’t drive slower to allow more people on the road to see your car.
- You don’t look forward to work.
- Those ladies really were just looking at your car.
- You find something else to do at home rather than go to the store for the least little thing.
- People in cars around you don’t drive as aggressively.
- Your conversations are shorter cause you don’t have anything to discuss.
I’m sure there are a ton more, I just don’t feel like discussing it!

I've been driving my MX-3 around the last few days because of the threat of snow. Thank God it's 7C (=45F) right now. I just got back from getting coffee ... took the 8 ... 30 minute drive ! ... and the coffee shop is about a 5 minute walk. :D

I agree w/everything on your listbut two things I found great about being in a regular sedan over my Rx8 while I was "stuck" in a rental wasthe comfort. It felt a lot cozier to be in a car w/a spacious interior (more storage and seats that werent so close to the floor ofthe car) than the tight cabin of my Rx8. The otherthing thatwas nice was that forthe first time since Ive had my Rx8 (over 16 months) I managed to go 8 days w/o needing to stop at the gas station!
In the Rx8 I feel locked into the seats and very restricted in movement - andwhen there are passengers in my car thatreally kills my storage space.
Onthe other hand that Protege Iwas in for two weeks gave meenough room to stretch - andI could actually hang my arm outthe window of that car comfortably since the windows are positioned at a standard shoulder length unlike the ones in our Rx8s. I haveto raise my shoulder a bit inorder to get my whole arm outthe window (Im 5'8) and it feels very awkward. It seemslike theyre designed for someone who is over 6 feet tall -- but then again being 6 feet tall wouldnt be too great either in the Rx8 b/c I imagine your head would be closer to the roof then youd like.
But I digress --I wasthinking about all those perks of beingin the sedan afterI got my Rx8 back. Of course - all of that **** Ihad in my mind quickly vanished a day later when an amazingly busty blonde chick completely stoppedwhat she was doing just to catch a glimpse of my car. Damn - I didnt evenhave a chance to stop and ask ifthey were real.

yeah, i traded for my parents wrx this weekend while winter tires are being put on my 8. i had the wrx for about a year a few summers ago and it was so much fun. now it just feels like crap compared to the 8. they have the short throw on the wrx and its still twice as long as the 8s! i do like it when the turbo kicks in though
