First off, count yourself very lucky to be given this car as a gift from your parents. Once you realize the magnitude of the gift, then start reading the threads here on rx8club and take the time to learn the needs of a rotary engine, which is what you now own. Do some research into the history of rotaries on the internet and try to understand why it is so special and dear to most of us that own them. The RX8 is my first rotary, and I plan to own this car forever.
It isnt the most powerful car on the market, and yours being automatic, isnt even as powerful as the manual transmission version, but is still a fun car. The cars strengtsh seem to be auto-cross type events, and its weaknesses seem to be 1/4 mile, or any type of drag due to its low torque and humble hp numbers. SO, if you do plan illeagal street racing of your 8, dont post about it here because you will lose any respect some may hold for you.
The RX8 in my opinion was purposely built as a sports car, but from what I have seen its more of an enthusiast car. You are eigther going to love it, or hate it. Most who have ever driven it love it, with the exception of a few who have had problems.
And to answer your question, I believe there are only two versions of the 8, Grand Touring, and the Sport. Sounds to me like you have the Automatic grand Touring.
I hope this info helps and dont be dismayed at the comments you WILL recieve on this forum. Its hard for those of us that scrimp and save and work so hard for our 8's to hear that someone recieves one as a gift. On my part, its jealousy, I wish my paretns got me an 8 for a gift when I was younger!
But seriously, do some research both on this forum and on the net, you have much to learn, and given the right guidance, you and your 8 will form a lasting relationship. ZOOM ZOOM!

I can relate, when I needed a car to drive back & forth to college, my parents paid for half of a 1980 Plymouth Horizon with 80K miles on it. It had about the same displacement as the 8 so that’s close, Right?
