Question rx8 no exhaust question, thanks

hey guys i need some imput.
my cat is bad and i dont want to drive with it like this, ive ordered a new exhaust but it wont be in anytime soon. is it safe to drive my rx8 WITHOUT any exhaust for a couple of weeks.
i know that flames are possible being a rotary and my driving habits but all stock motor, no tune, stock injectors. dont care about getting pulled over, but is it okay to drive like that??
thanks for any help in advance

Might as well gut your cat.

There is no engine harm in running catless. Take a steel rod or something and poke out the clogged honeycomb in the cat. Careful not to bang the O2 sensor in there.

Highly recommended that you do NOT just remove the cat and drive around with it dumping to atmosphere under the car. Aside from being basically the loudest car you will ever hear, (few people realize how insanely ear-bleedingly loud a completely uncorked rotary is) you will be dumping raw exhaust fumes under the cabin, and breathing that stuff constantly would be a problem. And then there is the whole flames bit. Do you really want flames being generated under the car? You know, where the fuel lines are between the tank at the rear and the engine at the front?

Gutting the cat is viable, though make sure you won't need to turn that cat in...

A medal rod of some sort that's about an inch in diameter--or less--and about two feet long (just to be safe that it's long enough)... just puncture through the cat until everything is cleaned out.

I personally left the silencer alone...do with it what you want, but there's really no need to touch it.

Here's a DIY on how to: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...hlight=gut+cat

Edit: Damnit, RIWWP, you beat me to it!

Also, I suggest that you ask questions like this in the "Tech & Performance" forum...Maybe do a little search before you start a new thread otherwise, happy modding!

Test pipe with no muffler will be insanely loud.

As in every person you pass reporting you to cops.

Every, one.

Too loud, and not a nice grumbly loud, a raspy lawnmower loud.

But whatever, it's your car, and your state......
