It's funny, I told a friend of mine "I think I see at least one Porsche a day". Well, actually I think I see at least 3 Porsches a day during a 10 mile commute. Last weekend I went to get something to eat about 8 miles away. I noticed
* 2 Audi S4s
* 2 BMW M3s
* 1 Viper
* 1 Ferrari
Geez, that day was absurd. I've seen a lambo on the road once too near the 55/405 interchange.
As for the uniqueness... the car is still unique in that it has a unique engine and suicide doors. but yeah unless sales of it starts to suffer, you'll probably see quite a few on the road. I mean it is a relatively cheap car that reviewers love so I wouldn't be surprised to see many on the road.

first, SRT-4s are not rare, you are just not paying attention, ive seen nearly ten on the street probably, also, in some areas of the US STis are more common than Evos and in some areas Evos are more common than STis
In the LA area i have to say Evos are more common(probably a 65/35 percent Evo to STi ratio).
also i would modify your heirarchy of rarity of higher end japanese sports cars to:
G35 > IS300 > 350Z > S2000 > RX-8 > Evo > STi

and spork, im sure you're right as i see different car ratios when im in other areas too, i think i might have noted something about some cars being more popular than its competitors according to certain areas of the US in one of my last posts, and for the record ive been noting how many SRT-4s ive seen in the past 2 days or so and ive seen 4, one of which had a very nice looking bodykit

i dont drive, but on a topic entitled "RX8 POPULARITY" i think driving experience has NOTHING to do with seeing a sports car on the street.
also, i do have to say your little jokes are pretty funny/clever ike, they make me laugh quite a bit
:D
except you do blow things out of proportion miserably too, you are acting like im saying things backwards about cars when in reality the only time you have ever read anything i have written about cars was one of my posts about the "Evo". and considering im someone that started learning technical things about cars only about 4 or 5 months ago and for someone that bought thier first car only about 4 weeks ago ive been told i am very knowledgable about cars
--edit---
considering this, i will admit you probably know 10000000000x more than me about the Evos and STis because i havent done much if any research on the cars, and am barely starting learn about them.
i do know about european cars and rotary cars though :D

I think it's great that you have an interest in cars at such a young age. But just take a step back and realize that reading stuff in magazines and on the internet can only go so far. Also you're not out there commuting 120 miles a day like some of us so that certainly plays a role in this thread.
All that aside, you could see 20 SRT-4s a day and have never seen an RX-8 on the road the SRT-4 would still be the rarer of the two. Not in your perception obviously but the numbers don't lie. When collectors talk about a car being rare they look at the production numbers for that specific vehicle, now neither the RX-8 or SRT-4 would qualify as being rare but I think you get the point.

obviously, and i know for a fact hte SRT-4 is much rarer than the rx8, they were only produced for one year after all right?
also another thing i've noticed in the past 6 months or so i've noticed the rx8 has finally been dumped into the mainstream more, it took an awful long time for them to become popular in comparison to the 350z. today on the 2 1/2 mile walk home i saw 3 rx8s on the road
i completely understand your commuting issue as i live in the real world too and i know many people that must commute a lot to work and enjoy performance cars, my dad being one as he lived in riverside county and had to commute for 18 years or so before he moved to LA. in fact one of the things on his top priority list of cars he buys are ride quality, and drivability, as he says hes getting old now, loud engine noises, unsmooth shifting, hard suspensions get annoying for a daily driver.
me, i personally dont care, im 15 years old, its a hoot when i drive my rx-7, the steering wheel feedback, the silky smooth shifter, the loud rotary buzz and tire squealing sounds just help me get absorbed into the driving experience
also, please dont assume i sit in my room reading "modified mag" and "import tuner" all day learning about tuning show car honda civics that will never break 250hp to gain knowledge. i come from a very knowledgable family of car enthusiasts who have owned everything from muscle cars, to high performance luxury european cars and japanese sports cars in which i can gain experience by hands on work(in car performance driving lessons in the mountains and installing performance parts onto thier cars and learning the basics of car tuning and maintenance)

StealthFox,
Keep up the fight. You are a very knowledgeable and intelligent teen (from your posts). Don't let these guys discourage you from learning.
Keep up the fight brother. I fought the same kinds of people when I was young. Even if they know more about the driving experience, you are on the right track. When you get more "behind the wheel" experience you will be dangerous (in a good way). Just don't blow by me on the track without a wave.
Have a good one.
