Another club member(Bastage) was there every step of the way as well. We can't forget his contribution, but thanks from both of us!

We also consulted others on this forum for ideas and guidance that at least I felt had more experience. I'm not all that much of a car guy to begin with. This is the first car I've taken and interest in beside keeping them nice or fixing when it was broken.

P2259 = Air solenoid valve control circuit low.
This could be a simple as a loose connector coming from the air pump, or the air solenoid valve itself.
Air pump is for cold start emissons you wont have a performace loss or anything. Should be okay, but will look when we have time.

The above could actually cause your next code, but not entirely sure.

P0420 = Cat system efficiency below threshold.
Could be the front O2 sensor. Would have to do more troubleshooting.
Bastage and I looked at the CAT and it looked pretty good, so I'm thinking it might just be the O2 sensor. We need to see if it loose or not, and then go from there. It still could be your CAT even though it looked good to us.

I will do some research and see what I can find that might be common to both. We know the PCM is, but we don't want it to be that...............unless it's just dirty connections.

I'm going to guess that the light is going to come back on.

Dave

Alrighty there Rachael,

Couple of questions and comments and then we can get to the latest.
First off, since you got the two codes read and cleared.........have they come back on? This would be these two!

P2259 = Air solenoid valve control circuit low.
P0420 = Cat system efficiency below threshold.

Want to know that answer first.

Okay...........on to the coolant light.
Well, read the below..it comes straight out of the manual(which you were supposed to download, but I'll cut you a break ) The main points are in red

Use only soft (demineralized) water
in the coolant mixture. Water that
contains minerals will cut down on
the coolant's effectiveness.

Don't add only water. Always add a
proper coolant mixture.

The engine has aluminum parts and
must be protected by an ethyleneglycol-
based coolant
to prevent
corrosion and freezing.

DO NOT USE alcohol or methanol
antifreeze. DO NOT MIX alcohol or
methanol with the coolant.
This
could damage the cooling system.

Don't use a solution that contains
more than 60 % antifreeze.
This would reduce effectiveness.

For our area(temps), the recommended amount is roughly.........

Antifreeze solution 35%
Demineralized water 65%

The mixture isn't super critical, but you kinda want to be in the ballpark.

Now, having said that, know that our sensor in the coolant tank is somewhat prone to failure. You can't just replace the sensor, but that whole tank. Wondering why you changed the anti-freeze..........or did you just add some? Trying to find out if you have a leak, were just low, or you thought a flush would be good??????

Okay..........I'll assume you changed it, so the first thing you need to do is make sure it's the correct type, and then since you didn't have the light on before, I have to assume that it's probably still a little bit low. This would be especially true if you replaced it, filled it up just by filling from the radiator cap. So..........what I would do is add some mixture to the coolant bottle(there is a fill line on it, but it's hard to see). Give it a good look and try to find the full mark located on that bottle.
Fill it up to that line and let's see if the light goes off.

Most importantly is to not drive the car if your temp gauge inside the car is getting near the HOT mark! Remember, it should read a little bit past halfway on that gauge. If it's anywhere near the HOT mark, shut it off and DO NOT drive it or you will cause engine damage(overheating). My guess at this point is still that you are low on coolant, so I would fill the bottle to the fill line......don't fill the bottle all they way(even if you do, it will just come out the overflow hose, but that hose tends to drip or flow onto other electrical connectors which can cause issues), so just fill it to the full line. Take the car for a spin, bring it back home, then see if the level in the bottle is about the same(full line) and add more if not.

Becareful................and DO NOT burn yourself!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT take that radiator cap off if the car has been runninng!
You should be able to add to the coolant bottle, but even then.....be careful if it's hot. Pressure can build up and fluid can and will come racing into that coolant bottle even when you take that cap off.

Car looks good................nice job cleaning it! Makes ya feel better don't it!

Oh yeah.................here's a link back to your "To Do" list!
A promise is a promise!

Will PM you with my cell number.

Anybody else want to chime in??????

Dave

ahahah you guys look too close at the pictures i was trying so hard to not reflect off the car

but back to business...
the only code that came back on was the cat one...ive had it checked twice since i posted just to make sure nothing else is coming up..and so far its just the car...

the coolant...i drove it up last night and to class this morning..last night is when the light was on but this morning nothing...and its not riding hot at all its riding normal...i wanted to see what was the best to get for it since i need it now... but its not getting too hott or anything i watched my gauage the whole time after the light came on, i was on 520 and theres no where to stop so i had to keep going...but it was fine this morning but i know i need to get some coolant in!!

and silly ***** i know not to mess with it if its hott... im slow but not that slow :p lol

but yes having a clean car makes me happy but then it makes me sad because this morning when i walked out side to go to class there was all this dust/pollen and morning dew all over the car and it just felt like i wasted my time

oh well...i washed it like 4 times over my spring break...lol and yes yes dave ill check the list and see what i still need to do...lol :p

That bra paint fade line is gonna be tough... might be worth getting a detailer to hit it up with some rubbing compound.

Wow this is a cool thread, glad I didn't miss reading up on it. Nice pictures Rachalayyy, the car is looking fantastic. Rock on to those guys helping out with the car. This highlights what an awesome group this is. I had a similar thing recently, when a forum member helped me do my gauge install just to help out.

I would recommend laying out in the sun. Oh you mean on the car...mah bad. It depends if the fade is in the bra itself, assuming it is still on, or from the paint. If it is the paint you might be able to restore the shine with some heavy duty buffing and the like.

If you wanna stop by my house this weekend, we can try to clay bar it in one area and see if that helps. I have nothing going on that I know of now at the moment. It would also give me another chance to look over the car real quick. I think Luren(my daughter) will be home from UCF this weekend as well.
Over all.....how's it been running? What's the lastest info.......still have that CEL on?

Need to look at when we can Rach. I don't think it's the CAT put an O2 sensor which wouldn't be that much to replace or actually do.

In terms of the bra line on the car, clay bar might help and I'm willing to try. The bra has been on there a long time, so yes there is going to be some fading elsewhere and should look richer/darker where the bra was. We might be able to blend it a little bit, or............you can always put the bra back on???????

In terms of letting me know................that's fine, whenever, just give me a call if you find any free time.

Good you found a job.........where? Answer that via PM.
My daughter has been over there since the beginning of the year and has yet to find a job. She comes back here every weekend just to work at her old job because she can find nothing over there. If you do get the job and they need other people, let me know! She could use one!
