rx8 says manual on papers?!

I have auto and whenever they put the vin number it says 6 speed. Should I sue mazda? Maybe I should have them replace with 6 speed.

What did you pay for? You can't sue if it's some typographical mistake. Unless you paid for a manual you're not getting one.

How's that? There's no law that says you have to have the same transmission your car started with at the factory. I can't imagine anybody wanting to replace a manual with an auto, but it's possible.

In any case, I would call MNAO and have them do a VIN check, and get your records fixed. If you were to sell that car down the road, and CarFax or other reporting service showed a different tranny than what you've got, it's going to look fishy as hell to the prospective buyer.

Some states have car registration fees that are based on the car's value (aka car tax, sometimes a seperate property tax). If it's a slushie and the state thinks it's a 6MT (and it's one of those states), the tax bill/registration fee could be higher than it should be.

If you sue them for something you didn't pay for, you will only be making the lawyers rich and it will probably cost more than trading it in for a 6 speed.

Maybe you should check with your insurance company. I believe the manual is more expensive to insure and they get certain informantion from your VIN. If they have you classified as a manual, maybe you can get a check from them, or more likely a credit on future insurance. Good luck.

I don't see the sense in sueing them. Unless it has cost you in some way. Has it?? If not, I would just go to the dealer and have the situation rectified.

Does your car have evidence that it was once a manual? A friend of mine bought an Audi once and noticed the stickers on the door panels where they put the vin were incorrect, turns out the car was wrecked severely at the dealership and was never disclosed.
