Top Gear. They review cars. They talk about performance, comfort, looks, etc. At times, they find something in the car which they don't seem to like. They've never given a perfect 10 to a car, nor a zero. They're going to make an attempt to have a fair review, giving both positives and negatives of each car, and many of which people may not agree with. Example: He doesn't like the tail lights. Most 8 owners like the tail lights.

You can watch other episodes in which they try to balance out the opinions between the 3 guys. There was that one episode comparing the three convertibles (the Z, some Audi, and the Crossfire). They didn't give a '1st place' to any car, even though it was obvious. They're 'trying' to be unbiased, which makes them biased in a sense.

Hopefully that's simple enough for you.

I never thought the rx-8 looked great. I always thought it had some nice lines, and some bad lines. Then i drove it and it trumped all my other choices. The looks have grown on me since.

I still find some viewing angles are unflattering, but I've thought that about all my cars. The 8 turns more heads than any other car i've driven, so I'd imagine the general public find it attractive.

i've seen that episode before. i like it and all, but i don't like the quality. it's not set at the right resolution.

anyways....about the video. overall it's a good video. i don't see how they're biased about not being biased. kinda confusing when that is said.....well, now that i think about it; not really . i really like all the driving that was done, and i like how he says that it's all one powerful beast, but just in an instant, it's one cool calm machine again. cuz, well, it's true . lol, my favorite part about the whole clip is when the other dude is mocking the 8 with the dinky little 1.3L engine while the Z has a big "macho 3.5L" engine. Yet the 8 got teh same time as the Z. Funny stuff there

BTW, i like the tail lights . lol.

Here's Clarkson's paper review of the RX-8. Many people here might not get the humor though.

You've got people on this site that think it's the most beautiful thing on the road, then you've got poll results showing people voting it as one of the ugliest cars on the road. I think it looks great, but I see Clarkson's point, and also know people that can't stand the looks of the RX-8.

kind of like a WRX

Oh, they've given cars zeros before, just look at any comment about the Korean cars. Or hell this video should make you laugh

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...p+gear+pacific

They basically bash the korean cars and made they own at the end.

But overall, they're pretty good motor journalists. They don't try to hard to be unbiased and sugar coat everything. If a car's a POS, they'll call it a POS. Jeremy's gotten out of the car and walked away and won't drive it because he considers it ugly.. (Cayenne). At least with their reviews, you know how good or bad a car is.. if it sucks, I would know..

Oh, and the twitchiness about the Rx8 in the web is definately true.. I was sliding all over the place this weekend.. it was fun and scary at the same time..

Yes, the WRX does have a polarizing effect on people as well. However I don't think there's anyone out there that bought the car based on looks alone, the same can't be said for the RX-8. I like the looks a lot, many WRX owners love the looks of their car, but I don't think you'll ever hear an owner say it's the best looking car on the road.

Morgans are awesome! My first memory of being in a car was in a Morgan. We still own it - it's awesome. Built in 1952, it has a 2 litre, 4 cylinder engine... and drum brakes on all four corners. Scary as hell!

Besides, Clarkson doesn't like Morgans - the other one does, Richard Hammond. He owns one!

Funny, Clarkson never said the RX-8's looks was ugly. He said it was fussy in the video. In fact, in the article, he clarifies it further: "It’s not ugly, and it’s certainly not plain. But it is messy". And I do see where he says that; there's alot going on with the looks of the car and not everybody would like that.

People shouldn't put words into his mouth. "Not the prettiest looking car in the world" != "ugly". If a car's ugly, I'm sure these guys tend to just say so.

P.S. I do like this part of the article: "So the front does the steering, the rear does the driving and you sit in the middle wondering why all cars don’t feel this way; so balanced, so right and omigod I’ve just gone past 7000rpm again and it’s all gone blurry."

I'm one of the people that think the rx8 is dead sexy. There are a few that think it's dead ugly. Learn to live with it.

Did I say awesome?

Awesome! Eventhough the M3 on the straight line would spank the RX-8 it's nice to konw that on a track it can hang with just about anything if driven right! Awesome!

A couple of years ago, a professional driver achieved a lap time of 1:12.68 for the RX-8 at Wakefield Park in Australia , as published in MOTOR magazine. Two months ago, the same magazine had a different professional driver set a time of 1:12.75 for the manual M3 at the same track. Both stock cars, in dry conditions.

Its been said before, wood is for boats.

funny think is the producer of Top Gear drives a fully tuned RX7!!!

Clarkson likes Mazda! he choose the saloon over the BMW the Audi and evey other car in that catogory! so lets say clarkson is a bit of a ***** most of the time but least he is honest, i dont agree with alot of what he says but he does tell it like he sees it, something not often seen in the media today

btw, leave the Morgan alone! you have any idear on the waiting list of one of them? try 8 years! for a $150,000 car thats quite a wait....i dont like em much due to the BMW M power Engine but hell i suppose there fast!

Did I actually see a car (by Daewoo?) that had an 'Xtra Cool' emblem on it?

Wow...

It seems to me that those of you that feel he is insulting the looks of the 8 in that video have obviously never watched the show before. He compared the Crossfire to a dog taking a crap! That's what I call ripping on a car. If you watch more than just that one episode, you will come to find that they tell it how it is.

Yeah British humor is different. Its more a play on words rather than outright physical comedy ala Chaplin, Stooges and Will Farrel

I find it better cos I get it and Im sure people who dont find it crap.

On the other hand, I guess I don't get Chaplin, Stooges or Will Farrel, cuz I find them crap.

Watch the video of Jeremy Clarkeson driving the car again and it seems obvious to me that he is really enjoying the ride. It is only when he is back in the studio that he decides it was not as great as it was on the day. I go with his first instincts personally.
