RX8 Torque??

RX8 Torque??
I had an important question for you all, since you'd know best being owners. I am like 99.9% sure that I'm going to the dealership tomorrow to buy an RX-8. I have talked to like 4 of my friends and told them about my excitement. They all told me not to get it because it's got no torque whatsoever. But other friends say it's fast as hell.... I don't know what to do. I used to have a 2003 Acura RSX Type S, stock.. I don't know if I should/can compare?? I DO plan on modifying the 8.
Info? Feedback!? HONESTY!? LOL

Tell this to the group of your friends who told you "it has no Torque" :
"Learn how to drive bitch, or get urself a Rustang!"
Go Search the site, Read.

I bought mine because it doesn't have any torque. My torque dial says "O" all the time. I'm trying to figure how to get the torque dial up to "1" torque. I'm thinking the solution may be to turn the dial so that it shows "1." I'm assuming anything above "0" would mean my car has at least some torque.

To be perfectly honest, it's really not as fast as its competitors. The 350z is much faster, but the RX-8 looks so much better and is more practical. I love my 8, but I have a lot of friends that drive 350zs, and every time I drive them, I am absolutely blown away by how fast they are compared to mine.

Because you are mid-car and probably the heaviest object in the car as opposed to sitting behind half a ton of steel - you don't feel the pull and jerk as much and you don't need as much muscle on the curves - it sort of flows around you - At a stop light (don't do this) if you get the revs up and then pop it into gear it might surprise you and the kid in the Honda beside you - as Mom puts it "it snaps your garters". It is not as peppy as a souped up corvette on the flats but you can allow him to hurt himself on the curves - but mostly you just find yourself going a little faster than you expected on a hiway so you have to glance down at the speedomter occasionally - it can pass an ambulance running at 120 - and that's with an automatic...but what the hey - we always drive like grannies because we are grannies!!!

The OP is obviously a troll.
He is about to buy an RX8 and he doesn't know how it compares to his old RSX? You mean he didn't test drive the RX8 extensively but is going to just go out and buy it? Uh yeah right.

I totalled it when I was racing a GTI and lost control.... and yes, I plan on adding a Greddy Turbo to it eventually. But that won't really increase torque. I donno.. I'm contemplating a RX8 or Z.

that was a good one.
turbo's don't add torque....
what most people notice first about s turbo IS the torque.
and why are you scared of an rx-8 NOT having much torque? it isn't like its much different than your honda. and trust me... i had honda's for a long time to know what i'm talkin about. great cars...the both of them. but pretty much a integra/civic are gonna be torqueless POS until you bring them up high into the vtec range... what you live for in a honda.
so whats your wait? get the 8...we hit portec around 7k rpm. no vtec.
time to step outta a highschooler car. i'm glad i did... tired of them kids always trying to "race" on the street.

No argument. The 350z definitely beats the RX-8 off the line. The z car has a storied legacy and is a very solid machine.
Most of us bought RX-8's because:
1. Superior handling in turns - which after all is the hallmark of a true sportscar. It's 50/50 weight balance provides near instantaneous response. You can dive into a turn with much more confidence than the Z.
2. High revving, turbine-like, rotary engine. It's like driving a jet.
3. Handles like a sports car but has the polish of a sports coupe.
4. You feel like you wear the '8. It's like a four wheeled motorcycle.
5. The rotary is so much more elegant from an engineering perspective than ol' fashioned piston.
5. Many other reasons.
