I've arrived at a point in my life where I don't give a flying leap what someone else thinks about their car/house/job/gf/etc., except to say that if they're happy with it, great! The point is, I'm VERY happy with my RX-8. Just because some review by a magazine or other "expert" reviewer thinks some other car is better, I don't care. I utterly fail to see how the idea that someone else says they're really happy with their car should influence how happy I am with mine. More power to them if they're happy with their ride, but it has NOTHING to do with how happy I am with mine! Get a clue!

you got a link to the source?
this seems familiar, thinking Car and Driver? if so,it seems like they based thier votes heavily on affordability and drivability as an everyday car
I love the classic mustangs, but ford should have let the mustang go when it was still a true american muscle/sport car.

I understand that in a direct comparison of off road capabilities, the Hummer H1 was able to out climb both a stock Mazda RX8 and a Rolls Royce Corniche. I am disappointed, as I've always wanted a sports car that could outdo a full blown off-road vehicle that costs 4 times as much. Thinking maybe I should sell the 8 for an H1 and get better gas mileage.
(And now the famous/infamous) ... So, what do you guys think?
Comparisons are like statistics. They are subjective at the very best, and useless otherwise.
I have the RX because I want the RX. I often feel sorry for the Mustang owners (poor poor wannabees), and the 350Z owners (most of whom I beat autocrossing), because they just don't get it. Nuthin like 9K rpms and a well-carved on-ramp to get a smile going on a drab and dreary Monday morning.

Re-post!
But hey, we always go on about tests the 8 won, and I yet to see one that we lost - out of about a half a dozen examples...until this one.
Anyways, Edmunds is hardly a reliable source, and I think they were wrapped up in the new car hype with the Mustang. Having driven both I still prefer my choice. But the NEW Mustang GT is a really nice car, live axle and all, and for the money I'd probably pick it to.

Tell me, what is more American?, a car that has its final assembly in America, but most of its component are imported... or a car that has its final assembly in Canada, but most of its components are from America?. Besides, even today, most models from American manufactures are made in America, and most models from Foreign manufacturers are still imported.
I did a lot of research about this.. and ended up concluding that still today, most cars made by American manufacturers are more American than those made by Foreign manufacurers. Don't just look at where is the Final Assembly, but also where most of it components are comming from, which manufacturer has the highest investment in America, and most important, where the profits are going. At the end of the day, how good is Toyota if most of its profits go out of this country. Actually, Toyota as a return of investment so short that it is pretty much milking America and taking its profits elsewhere.
BTW, also, most of the research and development made by American Brands is made here in America, and most of the R&D made by Foreign Brands is made in their original countries.
