Are Rx8's Good Cars
#76
The maturity of some of the people here crack me up. It's a shame since just a few retards can ruin the image of this forum with quite a lot of true enthusiasts. Being biased towards your own car isn't an issue, but start hating on other cars when no one even dissed RX-8 in this thread, is just comparable to srt4 forum. I guess it can't be helped as more and more RX-8 is becoming so affordable to the damn kids.

This forum rarely bashes any other cars. It's typically the other way around. In fact, the 8 forum is the least likely to bash other cars of any auto forum I've seen.
The VTEC jokes are just that - jokes. A ton of people own and love Hondas here. I personally think Honda engines are the best in the world in terms of reliability.

Destroying Threads
I have a civic which never ever breaks down
cus Vtac just kicked in :D
anyhow, yea, I think alot of us have Hondas
but Honda's arent sports cars, and Honda's will never ever be able to be as good as an Rx-8, not in this life time, probably not in your next
but they are good for when your RX-8 dies on the road
you do buy the RX-8 with your heart, and I love it dearly, even if it gives me shitloads of headaches and burn my wallet, if you ask me, it's the loveliest and cutest and best car in the whole f'ing world

Grand Chancellor
There was some noob who joined touting how an S2k is better due to the lag and a thump after 6000rpm to be a wonderful thing since Al Gore. Here's a fun article. This one is of course with AP2. Apparently it was put together by some folks who were paid to test cars. Not professional youtube drivers. Sorry.

VVT-i is from toyota which is mostly seen on corollas. Vtec is just a part of the ecu that opens valves a 3500rpm escorting more are into the engine, rotary engines have something similar to that but is no that technical....
VTEC IS NOT SPECIAL ALMOST ABOUT EVERY CAR OUT HAS ITS OWN VERSION OF IT

VTEC has been around for more than a decade.
Im sure it is still only for honda and has nothing at all in common with Toyota's VVT-i, Nissan's CVTC, or Mitsubishi's MIVEC?
oh wait.... its the same. honda just does it ever so slightly better.

I don't know that it's actually better so much as it's marketed to appear better.

My accord was an all around beater.. I'm extremely glad I learned to drive in that car and not something nice. I learned not to be stupid after the first couple of years after several warnings from cops (no tickets thanks to the car I was driving I'm guessing), a nice 540 spin on icey highway roads (I was stupid), and 1 mild incident in which I accidentally ran in to my friends beater (we claimed it as we were playing bumper cars RL style)
Anyways.. I like where this thread is going though (nowhere)

not sure what for
I would like to take this opportunity to expound on the virtues of the Mazda RX8.
I will not be bashing it's worthy competitors nor will I dwell on any of it's flaws, neither real nor imaginary.
To begin with it's exterior styling is impeccable. Sleek, smooth, refined, and restrained, it is destined to become a modern classic.
The next thing you'll notice as you slip into the driver's cockpit is the perfectly arrayed instrument cluster, the intuitive placement of controls and displays, and the body hugging form fitting sculpted seats. Becoming familiar with the shifter, clutch, mirrors, climate controls, locks, windows, and stereo functions is simple and straight forward. Turn the ignition key and the engine awakens with a whir, a purr, and a buzz as it quickly settles down to a hushed rumble with a slight quiver.
Instrument lights flicker to life as if to tell you the car has awakened and is ready to do your bidding. Depress the feather light clutch pedal and ease it's silky smooth gear selector into first, rev the eager power-plant as you gently engage its ultra linear clutch. Now things really begin to get interesting.
Whether it's your first time or your hundreth time behind the wheel you find yourself infused into the driving dynamics of it's superb chassis. At the risk of sounding cliche' the car becomes an extention of your body as if you've been endowed with super human powers. Think "Ironman" and you begin understand.
Hold that first gear as the engine effortlessly whizzes to it's stratospheric 9000 rpm redline with it's characteristic creamy smoothness and glance at the well placed digital speedo as it passes the 40 mph mark. Clutch in, grab for 2nd while the rear tires chirp as they dig in and rip past 60. Hang there if you like, she won't complain, she won't rebel, she just sings, sings like a beehive in a summers swelter.
Have I gotten your attention? Are you diggin the ride? Maybe not, words, no matter how eliquent, poetic, or inspiring simply cannot due the experience justice and we haven't even gotten to the first corner yet..........to be continued

Really, shouldn't that case present itself on ALL forums? Everyone bought whichever car because they thought it was superior to all other cars in their price range - and to them, it certainly is. I don't know what forums you've been going to, but this forum is pretty tame compared to most of the others I've visited.
