RX8's in Gran Turismo 4...
Everyone:
I'm a longtime lurker, sometimes poster here on the forums - owner of a Stealth..er...Titanium 2004 RR NA RE Manual RX-8. I'm also a game developer and, of course, by extension, a gamer.
Sony released its ultrarealistic racer, Gran Turismo 4, and there are 2 races devoted exclusively to Rotary's, one of them being the RX-8 cup - winner of that cup gets a 2004 Mazda RX-8 Racing Car. I'll be uploading pictures later this evening and will post links...
but the RX-8 in the game sounds and looks just like the real deal...its awesome
:D

If you think the cars in gt4 sound good/accurate, you should hear it on NFSU2 (especially for the PC)....i was part of the recording process (with my p5 that ended up not being in the game) and they spent so much time recording every car for the game. The guy that i was hanging out with doing the sounds for that game did the sound for some big movies like Master and Commander and stuff like that, so that was pretty crazy. A bit of a tangent, but yeah :D

the 8 with the stage 3 RA mods up it to around 400HP. Toss on some soft tires, racing clutch and flywheel and the thing flies - NFSU wasn't really my thing, though I got it for the PC. I prefer the cars to look closer to stock than the ricing that goes on in NFSU/NFSU2. All my cars in NFSU never had the graphics or lights, etc. I kept my cars as pure as possible.

I just bought a Thrustmaster Ferarri Enzo PC/PS2 racing wheel to play NFSU2 and GT4 (which I haven't purchased yet).. and I'm about to puke: the d*mned wheel is so small, the pedals are too close together, and the whole pedal unit slides uncontrollably accross the floor during use. I'm taking it back tomorrow and getting GT4 with my $50.
I feel like I have much, much better control over the game with the keyboard (more precision). Anyone else experience these types of problems with the wheel? How about a gamepad vs wheel in GT4?
(sorry if this is sidetracking, but the original post is kinda open ended..)

I just completed NFSU2 last night with an Rx-8 that I've driven most of the game. Caleb didn't have a chance against with his poor handling GTO!!
The Rx-8 was by far the best handling of the them all. I also drove and modded the 350Z and G35 but they didn't come near to the feel of the 8!

I've got the LM edition RX-8 in GT4. You can do a stage 4 turbo upgrade to take it well over 800 hp. The car becomes very fast at this point. Unfortunately it is absolutely no match for my JGTC version 350Z or LM edition Camaro. Both of them are well over 900 hp.
