Re: Buyback... A former Mazda fan/Customer

Did you have a car loan or lease on the trade-in car? If so, this would explain the negative equity. In other words, to pay off the loan, the bank wanted $13,850. The dealership only was willing to pay 13,600 so the new car purchase price was inflated by the $250 to pay off the bank. This is reasonable, if I'm guessing correctly.

'your dealership gave you an overallowance of $250 dollars on your miata and we wont be paying that'.... what the heck is an over-allowance? I look at my paperwork and theres nothing in there about $250 dollars... only the price of $13,600 that we agreed they pay for my 01 miata. I never agreed to an 'over-allowance'. In my purchase agreement with the dealership the $13,600 is refered to as the Trade in Allowance...

My question to everyone... Should they get away with this? Is it my dealership screwing me over? Is it Mazda kicking one of their youngest loyal cusomers when hes down? The Impartial services group called me and said after talking to Mazda Legal department that this was their final offer. I will be recieving ~250 less than what i paid(+ 1/2payment ) for the car. Did I missunderstand their Deal?

Your comments please.

I got an email last night with the refund letter and information attached as a word.doc. It looks good...aside from the lost sales tax benefit on my trade-in. Since my trade-in was only $6K, I am only out $450. One thing I was worried about was the $395 we spent on the fabric protection (my wife's decision). I see now that they will refund that too.

Now I just need to find a replacement. Actually, I need to sign and return this, then find a replacement. While I have noticed some of the Canadian members of the forum are returning cars, buying affordable Winter transportation and planning to revisit the 8 next Spring (after some of the issues are resolved????), I am definitely thinking long-term replacement.

My experience with the people at ISG have been good, except for Emma very rarely returns my calls, she only seems to respond to emails.

My problem lies in the fact that the dealer doesn't know his #SS from a hole in the wall, and even though the paperwork is sitting in his office, he "will get to it when he can".

So even though all of my paperwork got to the dealership on Monday, I now have to wait till Friday to get my check, and that is five extra days of interest that I am loosing because this guy is a lasy piece of sh**.

Thumbs down Nightmare

I owned my 2001 'Little buddy' miata. They agreed to the price of 13600 and now are saying they agreed to 13350 with 250 allowance. I would not have let my miata go at this price... I had them at 13999 at the dealership across town... where is the documentation of this with my signature? Exactly: on my Sales agreement where my trade in is listed as 13600. my lawyer has asked the dealership the same question about where the 250 was mentioned. Lawyers reply to me is that it is not worth the 250, but I am in the right.

The sales manager's reply: 'all of this is perfectly legal'. 'I will not speek to you anymore, only to Mazda North America Organization'.

my reply: 'your deal with me for the miata was between us.... Vanessa who was appointed by MNAO wants to talk to you and for you to provide her with the documentation, Heck I want a copy for myself too!'

Dealer: 'She will be waiting a very long time for that call.'

What a Nightmare.

I have gone ahead with the buyback and agreement. This is going to end. I will write to every newspaper in the region, every magazine that I can, and speek to every person that I know about Mazda and this experience.

The woman in charge (Vanessa) told me I am not the only one dissapointed with whats going on.

Is $250 dollars worth the bad publicity this will cause?

I wish I could have a legal team (as Mazda has consulted theirs 3x on my case).

For those of with a loan and no trade in and put money down, how did they pay back your bank and you? Did they give you the check for your amount over the financed amount there or did you have to wait?

Also how long before they paid your bank?
