S2 guage in s1
I'm sorry guys if this has been posted before, I'm on my shitty phone and can't search, I'm debating over a s2 sport and a 40anny s1 for the same price. I've owned a s2 in cwp before but had to sell. I'm torn between the s2 engine, steering wheel, suspension and those sexy tails and headlight.
Anyway, I've done alot of research on s2's but not so much s1's
my question is If I can put some of those amenities from the s2, mainly the rolling guage.
Sorry again if this was previously covered, I'm currently driving to test drive the 40anny.
What would you guys do a base 09sport or 40anny

Which one has the least mileae/ cleanest history?
The 40 Ani Is the nicer looking, but the SII Sport is newer & has a better engine.
ECU is very different in the SII, ad that is what drives the adjustable redline in the tachometer, so I doubt the S1 computer would be able to drive it.

The series II RX-8 has an automatically adjusting redline (Instead of a red rea painted on teh tachometer numbers, it has LED lights that mark where the rev limit should be)
The redline automatically adjusts depending on driving conditions (wether the car is warmed up or not, ambient temperature, Fuel octane/knock detection in the engine, etc)
That is what the OP is calling a "rolling gauge"

Thanks for the help, im in for alot of reading about S1's
I couldnt test drive the 40 today but the S2's clutch seemed squishy compared to old touring. Oh and the check engine light was on that the dealer "promised it was from bad gas" I was like, thanks for potentially killing the life of the engine.

Probably no help but, FWIW, I wish the S2 kept the S1 front end and side vents. To me, the original front grille looks great; the new one looks like it was forced onto the car by Mazda corporate even though it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the car stylistically. Like the new back end/tail lights, though.
That rolling tach is, indeed, nice eye candy and I like cool stuff like that. But the truth is you don't really need it; just remember to not red line the engine until it's warm. Easy to remember.
Just my 2¢.

I agreed at first too, same thing. The front bumper grew on me haha, but yes, the side vents are alot nicer on S1's. Could the S2 steering wheel be implanted onto a S1??
