s2000 vs rx8

im in a dilemma and could use a little help. IM PRETTY NEW TO ROTARY ENGINES. ive been driving my cousins MSM miata for the past year. while he drives his elise. so bare with me for my noobiness.
im 16. been driving for about a year or 2. it will be my daily driver. i read the faq section. and all im going to do really is, INTAKE, EXHAUST, RIMS, AND SUSPENSION. Thats all i have in mind so far cause i wouldnt want to blow the engine.
The S2k and RX8 have similar lines IMO. if the s2k was to be a coupe it would be the RX8. but with all this said, how is reliability if im going to DD it with the mods i listed? I AM ALSO GOING TO BE PAYING HALF OF THE CAR PAYMENTS.
BTW, the one im looking at is a MY2004 with only 5k miles.

Relaiability will be fine.

Remember.... we have very few moving parts.

[sarcasm]Our cars are very unreliable and the spontaneously combust after only 100 miles. I drinks oil like mad, you have to add 5 quarts of oil every 200 miles, I don't think you'll like that. The RX-8 gulps down fuel like a horse, a whopping 5 miles to the gallon! You're better off with the S2000.[/sarcasm]

The S2000 bests the RX-8 in just about every category besides price and practicality. It's quite simple, drive the cars and get which one you like better...

If I were 16, I'd be all over the S2K, or perhaps a late model year Miata (i.e. a recent Mazdaspeed - stupid fun and cheaper than the Honda) over the RX-8. No offense, but at your age, having more people in the car is a recipe for disaster. Statistics show that your risk of an accident goes up 400% with passengers in the car, and risk goes up the more teen passengers you have. From that standpoint, the S2K would be safer for you.

Reliability, resale value, and aftermarket options are also greater with the S2K. Go with the Honda.

i am a honda fanatic and it would be fun to carry people around, but the LIMITED SPACE IN THE S2k is practical. and if i would want to carry people around i would take out the SUV. all my other friends got their cars too soo yeahh. (mr2, MSM miata, 350z, s2000, 240sx) oh yeah btw its running for 17K.

Not to be harsh, but IMO unless you are extremely responsible and have a background in racing, you have no business in either car with barely 1 yr driving experience. Start off with something a bit more practical and dialed down for your age. Learn to drive that car well and then upgrade. Dont be in such a hurry youngsta!
I shudder at the thought of an overzealous 16 yr. old zipping around in an s2000 (not saying YOU would be like that)

I told my dad I'm not a big fan of import cars, 2 F-bodies later I find myself in an RX-8. Now I'm a fan of RX-8's

Atleast give one a test drive, my dad had a C5 for awhile and I loved that car. Now he's got a C6 that he won't let me touch

I am sorry to say.... reliability is below average, and that is not fine, and having a few moving parts doesn't mean a thing....

besides that, it is fun to drive...

He's 16, insurance is gonna be a killer no matter kind of sports car he drives. Sure some will be more than others, but it's still gonna be a lot.

in my cousins MSM, i knew my limits, not the cars limits. i know when enough is enough. i consider others safety, my reliability. if i would want to push the car to its limits, i would take classes or go to local autoX courses.

but yeah, im pretty responsible and not like those spoiled little kids who get expensive sports car and dont pay a DIME. i would be paying either half of the car payments or the insurance payments.

Man I remember when I got my camaro when I was 16 and I said that stuff...Ended up with a hell of a lot of trouble :p

And even more so when I had my Trans Am.

Edit: why is it when people get a car for free from their parents they're automatically spoiled little kids? Always sounds so negative =/

Not everyone who got a free car is a complete snob/jerk kid.
