(S2-1/2 of a S2) + 1/2 S1 = S2

S1+ 1/2 of a S2) + 1/2 S1 = S2

 

Apparently Mazda agrees too. The whole dumb smiley face campaign ended when they put off the redesign of the 6 to see how the CX-5 was received. It was well received and that is the new look for Mazda.

I think it looks a lot more like the S1.

 

Are you really going to go all out on me just because I don't agree the s2's are good looking? I really cannot see what mine looks like when I am driving it and to be honest, a single **** is not given as to what others think of my cars and what they look like. It is about the drive to me.

Hence an FD engine in an FC.

This is the reason I chose a S2 over an S1, also the fact that I could get an R3 helped that decision.

Good point Jim. The main reason I went with a new R3 over a 40th Anniversary S1. The $3000 rebate on the R3 at the time of purchase didn't hurt either

The S2 is ugly. Thats the title. because they think the car doesnt look as good as the S1. Why is that made to '**** people off'? I agree with the op. The front of the S2 is horrible, the bumper is the problem with the happy smile and it just doesnt look right.

Im sure some people might think a DC5 is ugly to a DC2. Or the FD is ugly to the FC or any other Mark cars arent as nice as the previous or next iteration. Your allowed to have a different opinion, your allowed to ask if anybody else things one generation or a facelife is ugly, its not as good as the other.

Clearly, im using examples of of generations of different cars like the RX7 and the Honda Integra to reinforce the point that some might think one gen is nicer than the other, or one is ugly, the other is not.

Maybe the S2 Nation should secede from the S1 union. We may not have the same numbers, but we're not replacing our engines yet.

What we need is to have the forum collectively buy a high mileage engine, and send it to one of our preferred builders for a tear down and measurement, to see if the changes made any difference in the wear of the engine, and by how much.

Of the 26k+ cars that were built, some must be in junkyards with over 50k miles after being wrecked.

Then we can truly start saying "Neener Neener".

I think S1's are ugly with their narrow stock (non-MS) bumpers. Considering every other RX-8 I see on the road is an S1, as opposed to the 2 S2s I've seen in a year of owning an 8, It's easier to form that opinion.

But hey, it took the provocation of a dumb **** like you for that to come out, since I never felt the need to share this PERSONAL [and likely minority] opinion. I was content to keep it to myself or between a personal, but friendly discussion between car guys at a meet. But then those of us that are more mature than a toddler think like that.

How have I provoked you to say you think the S1 is ugly? Im happy with your opinion, we cant all like the same things. Youve said why you think theyre ugly, and im all for that. I dont think theyre ugly, but just like I think the S2 front bumper is ugly, doesnt mean you have to resort to name calling. By all means, if someone thinks the S1 is ugly, say it. Theres nothing wrong with that. At all.

What IS wrong, is calling somebody because they think one generation is ugly and another generation or facelift isnt. And your in that category now for attacking someone with a different opinion to you.
