Saab "born from Jets".....could use a rotary engine
I think saab would greatly benefit from a rotary engine being added to one of their sports cars..... every time I see one of their commercials, I laugh. There is nothing original about the car nor does any portion even closely resemble a "jet".
The rotary engine in one of their cars would definitely increase sales. The turbine sounding rotary would enhance their marketing strategy. As of right now, that stupid marketing term is absolutely worthless.

Your reasoning is suspect. However since GM has a license, in theory it could happen. However I doupt the bean counters at GM would do it. However I haven't looked under the hood of a SAAB lately and they might actually have one there. GM uses their wankel license to make AC compressors. If you see a short round GM/delpi AC compressor it is likely a rotary/wankel.

born from jets....not currently a jet.
considering all the bittersweet media that seems to surround the rotary, i think that most manufacturers are wise not to jump in actaully.
saab would likely look at it this way...they have quite the name running for them now...why even bother?
they would likely turn that idea down before they even finished breakfast...
creative, just not logical.

I used to be a Saab fan. Not that I don't like them now. But for as long as I can remember they've been I4 Turbocharged. It's kinda traditional I guess.

Having nearly 3000hrs in Saab Aerospace equipment... I don't think that they have anything to gain by connecting their car business to their aerospace products.

Sales would drop, no doubt.
The rotary is not acceptable to the masses.

I just think something original and that very few other vehicles on the road have would promote their advertisement more, and may get them more sales

Saab used to be as boring as Volvo. Then Volvo at least made some efforts "R" branding some of their cars. Now Saab is more boring than Volvo. And the "born from jets" campaign can't be fooling anyone. One test drive confirms that.
I think they're nice daily driver/grocer getters, but nothing more. If anyone should advertise something along the lines of "born from jets" it should be BMW.

I don't understand why there is such a problem with their slogan. Saab made jets before they made cars and their first car was designed by aircraft engineers...

And "born from jets" may be true, but that edgy, fun image they're putting forward doesn't seem to match the cars they build. At the Chicago auto show in their section all you heard every few seconds over their speakers was the sound of jet engines screaming. Somehow, when I looked at their cars I didn't make the connection.
