Safety device for the hard to see silvers (or for drivers behind you that can't see)?

I use Kisan Tech tail light modulators on my motorcycles - where getting read-ended is a serious and common problem. I put modulators on my some of my cars as well including my wife's previous car.

I order up 3 of the 100HD "TailBlazer" modulators for my new cars and my wife's new car. The RX-8 was very easy to install, just remove the dozen of so trim fittings that hold the trunk lid trim in place (see the owner's manual under replacing the CHSL bulb). There are 2 wires going to this light, identify the one that has +12v on it when the brake is applied and cut it, the wire the 100HD in series using the two wire ends (just make sure you have "in" and "out" right, then find a ground bolt for the ground - I used one of the trunk latch bolts. Then double-stick-tape or Velcro the little module to the trunk lid under-side and replace the trim.

Here is the link for the device:

and here is a link to an AVI if it "in action" on my 8:

NO guarantees the ijits will not hit you anyway, but it should help. Unlike some other products this goes solid if you leave your foot on the brake so you don't bug drivers behind you with a constant flashing light. Also the rapid to solid decay grabs attention - and the action can be "Reset" by just releasing the brake and re-applying. If you are stuck at the end of a stopped line of traffic you can hit and release to get the folks flying up behind you to see you.

just looks like you have a faulty brake light ...that should grab attention since it's unusuall to see flashing brake lights

Never seen a faulty light with a decaying flash pattern

Hey if towing missle shaped ballons behind the car will keep me from getting hit, I will try that too.

Don't know why it would not be. BMW, MB, and others are now putting flashing 3rd lights on their cars. In the case of the high end cars it flashes faster the harder you brake - so if you have to really get on the binders it flashes fast. That is the ideal type of flasher, and one they used to sell back in the 70's for motorcycles was like that. The "Cyberlight" <sp?> had a hardware accelerometer (weight on a spring?) and the faster you slowed the faster the flash and stop = solid light. They even used them on CHiP cars if I remember right. In this age of OBDII and solid state devices you could make something that would work the same way, but it would have to tie into the computer or be real picky how it was mounted.

You should see it on my S with its row of LED lights for the 3rd light - it is "eye popping" :D
