Wink Survey

My RX8 has only 800 miles on it, I love the way it handles, love everything about it. After reading about others with gas mileage problems I get 14-19 mpg, (mostly city) I guess I just have to accept the fact the window sticker is inflated! I've wanted the car since it first came out, bought a 2003 Mustang and hated it. I'll live with the gas mileage!!!

Same here, everyone has a comment about the car. I think I have seen only two others since I bouth mine 3 weeks ago. Just wish the gas mileage was better, this is actually a second car for me but I hate getting into the other one since I got this! Winter will suck when it gets put in the garage.

I voted somewhat dissatisfied, but it is a short venting period. I just had to pay to replace my a/c condenser and install an aftermarket grill to prevent from happening again. oh well....

My tune will change in a week or so. I really do like my rx8!

Best RX yet!

Having owned a '79 4 speed, a '93 twin turbo and now a used '04 RX8 auto touring, I can say this is the best RX yet! The engineering, features, ergonomics and practicality are amazeing! 15-17mpg in town, 22-24 on road. Took a 1000m round trip with 3 adults and had a blast, very comforable on long trip and I'm 6'3" tall!
Does knock when very hot as in stop & go traffic w/ ac on, & wierd chirp in exhaust, all else has been perfect. I'd love to find the cornering limit but it sticks like glue!!

Highly satisfied. Even though my tail lights fogged up, and I had a defective gas cap causing CEL agony, I enjoy the car every day. I dont think a week goes by that someone will just walk up and start talking about how unique the car looks. And I find it amusing how people still are amazed that the rear doors open, and that the rear seat is as big as it is!

Well here goes . . . I think I'm kind of an old fart here (53) and this is my second 'sports car. (First one was an MG TD1500 . . would be a rich man todsy if I still had it.
But to the subject at hand . . RX8 . .to me it is part car . . . part motorcycle. It reminds me of a Suzuki1000g I had . . . pulls and pulls and pulls . . . . and given the roadsand such is pelanty for me.
I bought The RX-8 because it does so many things well . . . accelerates, handles yet is smooth enough for a long trip.
I probably won't modify it . . . just not for me . . . I let the street racers do that and I'll jus practice my corner entries and blow the M3's off.
Maybe it doesn't have the tourqe of a Mack Truck but around town I have no problems doing a 1-3-5 shift to speed. Drop a gear . . or two . . or three and enjoy the show!

Welcome aboard axsym911. I too have reached the ripe age of 53. The motorcycle kinship has been mentioned before. I’ve herd it said it's like a motorcycle on 4 wheels. When the owner of the company I work for drove mine, the first thing he said was it reminded him of driving his wife's Honda (motorcycle).

Many on this board modify their cars and are not street racers. I think you will find very few on this forum are. A lot of us do like to participate in NASA and other HPDE driving schools which is a great way to find out how your car and you match up with other cars without being timed. Don't know where you are located but here in GA, we love to take it to the mountains occasionally and stretch it's legs a little in the twisties.

Well I first started looking at it with the family sports car attitude and it works great for that!! I can carry my wife and kids comfortably and still have a blast driving it. I have never had a vehicle that handles a good as this one and still be an everyday car. I bought the car new in October of 05 and I have 8000 miles on it and I am still loving it!!

I would say that I am super satisfied and I Love driving it, the performance and it looks very good. The funny things is I have had more people ask me what it is on several occasions, and when I tell them Mazda RX-8 they just look at is and say that is bad ***!!

I would have to give it a

This car is great so far. The visors are broke and my tail light have condensation but other than that it is great. The only real reason I could gripe is the gas mileage but if you want performance, then that is a sacrifice you have to make.

I'm truly satisfied with this car. While it's not a real "racer's" car, it's styling and smoothness on the road set it apart. Love just about everything about it. The only problem I've ever had is when I didn't follow the cold engine shutdown procedures. I spent an hour one Monday morning (before work) trying to "unflood" it. I learned my lesson on that one.

Best car I've ever ownened. The MPG isn't bad, 22 MPG, if you keep your foot out of it.

Just over 1000 miles and I am highly satisfied with the RX8. This is my first rotary, first sports car. As an 06, I was confident that issues surrounding the recalls and TSB's were handled on the production line. My build month was 2/06 and from what I read here, that's when Mazda started the Rx8 production run for this year. I'm not even going to start to calculate my mileage until the car reaches past the 2000 mile mark.

I bought an 04 when I was out looking for a truck. I was walking across the street and caught a glimpse of that distinctive nose peeking out from between a 350z and a last gen Mustang. My friend told me that if I wanted to go home with a truck, that I better not drive the RX8. It was just too purty not to get into, so I crossed back over the street to get a better look. That sneaky bastard of a salesman went inside to grab the keys without asking. He came back out, tossed me the keys and told me to take it for a spin. Between my friend and the salesman it was like having an angel on one shoulder and a little devil on the other. From the get go, just sitting in the car I fell in love, it's like sitting in a fighter jet cockpit, and the looks you get with it is just too funny sometimes. Needless to say, I got it, and I love it. This is the first new car that I've owned and I have about 42,000 miles on it and look forward to another 100,000 worth of fun with it.

I am a cautious little old lady - I drive both an old comfortable 323 -from '93, and a new 2005 RX-8. As I use the RX-8. I feel like I am putting on a pair of slippers because it's even more comfotable! It is quiet, well mannered, fast, and, as I have learned to use the automatic stick, I get much better milage than expected by shifting up to keep the rotations low. I prefer it to the older one because of its feel. Only problem is cute guys keep asking about it and they are too young for me! ( The secret of good preformance is good service) - if you are in California, it's worth a drive to San Louis Obispo to visit Valley Mazda for a tune out and check out - the Maintanence Supervisor owns his own RX-8 and has rebuilt lots of the older rotors for fun...

Now got over 1000 on it and loving it more! No longer slow old lady - this thing get up and hussels but does it with such grace that you don't even notice until you look at your speed dial. Getting good gas milage, better than expected, can really pull on an uphill, and keeps it's speed going over our mountains. Can pass on a climb! Only negative is the fire wall fabric - too attractive to mice and squirrels! Much pleasure watching the kids at the car wash work on it - they do it like they are making love to it!

I've had her for almost a month, and I just can't wipe this smile off my face.
I voted "Highly satisfied". Am I "completely satisfied" ... no, but damn close.

Design, build and interior quality, are all very very good ... especially for a car under $35k.
One of the few "knocks" I have is the low torque, but it is not a huge deal.

Well for the most part I am satisfied with the way it handles and drives. I have had it for about 4 months and have just under 7k miles on it now. The down side to this car is it has been back to the dealer for a total of 3 weeks since buying the car. Fist was the brake squell. My dealer fixed it with the updated pads and shims for the front brakes. Only after I had them call the tech line about puting ceramics on it. Then the pinging noise stated. That issue is still not fixed. The dealer is thinking it might need a new engine. That makes me question it sometime. My enjoyment of driving it keeps my liking the car.

Poor MPG. Not even close to the sticker as advertised.

Brakes are poor

Air conditioning failures. Extremely poor delivery or warranty repalcement parts

No start issues that is not practical.

Cheap leather.

Cheap interior parts.

Cheap paint.

Talking Love the car!!!!

I have had my RX8 for about five month now. I love it. To me it is like driving a racing go cart. I have never had so much fun driving a car. Don't know if any modes will be done. I love driving the car the way it is. If anything, maybe drilled rotors and better pads.

Oh, **** I was trying to quote mcsetech.

I love my car!!!

I have only had problems with the tail lamp moisture and the visors (which were broke when i bought the car believe it or not). I was going to tell mcsetech that he should try a different dealer because the first dealer I went to about the visors gave me **** and then I went to another dealer and they hooked everything up. I drive 100 miles a day in my RX8 so my interior gets quite a workout and I have yet to have anything wear out or break. The gas mileage does suck but if you are bitching about that then you should have researched before buying the car. I have just got into autocrossing and even though I drive a lot daily, my brakes have held up well considering my driving style. If you wanted top quality leather you should have bought a BMW.

Sorry, forgot to add a message, (my first post, if u want to call it that) pretty much like everyone else, gas mileage is horrible, and the idle is a little rough. other than this, highly satisfied!!!!
