Well, I just got my car yesterday. I traded in my G35 Coupe for an 06 6MT RX8. I love the RX8 but my G35 had alot more torque and power... but then again, it is a 3.5L V6 engine...

Heh, some magazine quoted an estimate of 70k for the new GTR coming out... I wish i had the money. I also needed a daily driver, the G35 roughly had the same MPG as the RX8 so that's why I bought it, I'm very tolerant with the MPG I can get from it.

The G35 is also a sexy car though with much more raw HP potential.

I am happy as hell with my RX-8. If you want Mileage buy a damn Hybrid!! It is a hoot to drive and makes all my old RX-7's a joke.

In all honesty, if I won the lottery, I would still keep the RX8. I have driven a 2000 Mustang Cobra, an older V8 Firebird, my fathers 1984 Corvetteand my friends 67 (I believe this is the year) Camaro. I would pick the RX8 hands down.

I've never been in such a unique car. It handles better than my fathers Corvette, looks nicer, and has a unique characteristic that no other car has: a rotary engine.

No doubt I would like a little more torque when starting from a standstill (it's ok when I drop the hammer at like 5k RPM). But it's the uniqueness that I love, and the fact that there are so few on the road un-informed people think it's a ferrari or supercar.

I couldn't be happier with the car. Neither can anyone who rides in it.

I love the car, if it got decent mileage i would have rated it as high as it goes, but 14 mpg just makes it somewhat satisfying

The more I drive my RX-8, the more impressed I am. It just feels like the perfect car for me.

Highly satisfied.

Cleoent, how do you only get 14mpg? I average between 18 and 22. No matter how much I hot rod it.

Researched it & new the negatives. After 10k miles on it I can say I really underestimated the positives. Too bad the snow is coming soon . . .

Happier with this car than any other car i've ever owned. Yes it has its quircks but the car feels special. I like that I don't see 57 of them on the way to work every day! Handles great, very comfortable, very cool looking, love the features. Sporty yet practical and affordable. Where the heck are you going to find all those features in such a nice package? If someone finds me a car that does what this does even better for the same price, i'm there! I don't expect that anytime soon however...

Talking

I've had mine for 6 weeks and loven it. I'm learning how to get the power out when I need it. People complane about the midrange power but with 9000 rpm's you can't think that your driving a standerd motor. The only complant is that I need a seeing eye dog when backing up.

I am so happy to be back. I owned a 2004 RX-8 for about a year and traded it in over concerns about engine longevity. I was sick over that mistake every day afterwards. Now, I'm ecstatic to be back in my 2006 MT RX-8. I have really missed you all.

So far I'm absolutely loving the car. I had forgotten just how fun the car is to drive. Some of the quirks are still there that I remember from my first car (can't shut off cold, driver's side visor broke at the dealership the day I bought it, stock tires are blearg in the rain); while other quirks have been fixed (cupholders no longer fry everything in them, A/C no longer cycles constantly, oil light doesn't flash on and off during highway travel). I have learned to accept the car for the work of art that she is. 8's are tempermental - but don't we all love our women that way also?

After reading about your deer incident Cool-Blue-Dad, I'm afraid I'll hit a deer and be without her - the car is like a drug.

I loved my 88 rx-7 turbo, This rx-8 I just like. You would think by now Mazda would have all the kinks worked out with the engine.
