Satisfaction Survey with your RX-8

Somewhat satisfied. Three years in, and the car has been a pleasure. Except for two glaring issues: Gas mileage continues to be just horrible, and the car does have the flooding issue. It's not a lot of fun getting 15mpg on a commuter car, and it's a PITA not to be able to move the car without leaving it running for a while. Otherwise, absolutely no problems.

I believe most of those comments—"Shame on Mazda for using us as guinea pigs for a not-ready-for-prime-time product," "I think it's safe to say there'll be no 2006 RX-8," "Clearly the rotary is dead," and my personal favorite: "I believe, in time, that most—if not all—of these engines will fail"—actually started… right here. What's more, I suspect something like 80% of those comments—which, on the internet, spread like wildfire—came from just six or seven people, who posted that crap over and over and over again. And still do!
My 8 has been problem-free, too. Like many brand new models, I believe the earliest 8s suffered from teething problems.

1935 lbs. FTW!
Somewhat satisfied. Can't beat it for the price, performance, practicality but the build quality was sketchy with lots or rattles and cheap plastic interior parts breaking.

Love it. Dealership knows me by name because I bring it in for every small squeak, or rattle. They never hassle me, they do it, call me, and I pay 0. They always wash it after every fix and maintenance visit. I love it, I talk to it when no one is around...

We just traded our 2004 Rx-8 for a stinkin brand new 2007. wow what a difference between night & day. I highly recommend a 2007 model. the 04 we had was just a paddle shifting 4 speed and the new 07 is a paddle shifting 6 speed. You really notice a difference.

The 04 was a pre owned P.O.S. but it was our first RX-* and did not know what to expect it was a major lemon but we loved it anyways. so one day we stopped by Mazda for kicks and they had a beauty on the lot so we took it for a test ride and I couldn't believe the difference in the way it drove. the 07 completley blew our 04 out of the water, needles to say we left that day with the o7. and bonis they gave us 18,000 on trade!!! wooo hooo

Trade-in price is meaningless all by itself; if they gave him 18k for his, but charged him MSRP, they gave him 5000 more than his was worth, and he paid 5000 more than the new one was worth. The key statistic is how much more did he pay for the new one (and what option package did it have), above the trade.

At my age it is better than Sxx although the other half may see it different but nothing else puts a smile back on my face after a hard day than hearing the noise from the exhaust and the thrill of driving the RX8

It's just a fabulous car. So much fun to drive. Even if I have had 38 warranty issues to date. I LOVE this car. If something goes wrong Mazda fixes it.
I don't care if it all of a sudden it crumbled into pile of junk in the driveway. I am going to buy another one.
Zoom Zoom Zoom.

So far, I am satisfied with my RX-8. My dealer (in Tokyo, Japan) is very attentive to my needs and is very helpful when I ask them questions. They do the complimentary wash when I service my 8 there. I am very **** about washing my car because I am concerned about the dirty wash mitt and scratching. I learned the established car dealers in Japan tend to be very careful with treating their customers' cars. When I was in the States, I don't let them wash my car as I know I will end up with so many swirl marks.

Pain? None that I can think of.
I bought my RX-8 from an owner whom I knew would take good care of his car. He raced the RX-8 in legitimate races (AutoX, Track, etc.). I do the same.
I bought it with 20,000 miles on the odometer. It's the first car to be registered to my name, and the first car I have ever legitimately owned. It's just beautiful. It's an amazing learning car for racing, since if you mess up, mashing the throttle won't save your times. Either you get it right, or pay dearly for it in your overall results.
For that, I love my RX-8.
Outside of racing, it takes me to classes when the weather turns unfavorable for bicycles. It is my grocery shopping car. It is my daily driver.
The only pain I can imagine was when I was swapping out the brake pads myself, and I clipped my finger between the brake calipers and rotors. It hurt, but it was my fault.
The car gets a lot of heat from people who simply do not understand that cars to me simply aren't about statistics or how much horsepower it spits out. It's about how it makes you feel. It's about soul, the passion in driving.
It's about the smile the car puts on your face everytime you get in.
This car gives me that in spades.
I get envious looks from people on the sidewalk all the time, and my friends praise it. The center console gets a lot of conversation focus, and some of my friends think it's the best car on the planet. Affordable, sexy, and quite practical.
