Maple Shade Mazda

Maple Shade Mazda is continuing to give me the run-around. I pleaded my case, plain as day, with indisputable evidence that they seriously Fucked up, and the Service Manager, Carlo Giannotti - without mentioning names...starts to give me the story that his manager is the one to make the decision to swap out the engine, but he is out of town and he most likely wont get back to him until he gets back from his trip. He also keeps referring to the fact that I'm out of warranty, and doesn't think that there is anything that he can do. Big ******* deal I thought...a recall is a recall! Thats right, he doesn't think, I thought to myself.

His managers name is Dominic DeCaprio...I wish i could call him myself and make everything better! I say this because I called Carlo this morning and he said that he has heard of anything yet...He says it like i want his big fat **** up my ***! But he is doing everything he can...and not to worry.

I don't know what to do, and I'm getting so frustrated...please help!

recall is a recall....

recalls are done because they know there is a problem/defect... they should warrant defective workmanship if your car is in or out of "warranty".

thats why people call them "stealerships" and refuse to go to them.

if i had a rotary mechanic in the d.c. area (mm should have opened his own shop) i would go exclusively there.

+1

Allow me to repeat.

a Recall is a Recall. Dealership does NOT have the right to say No.

How about this, you can call this a *gap hole* in the system. but too bad, thats how it is. they should replace the engine for free

and look at the invoice again, are they trying to sell you a Brand new engine including labor for 5.7 K or a Reman ?

if its new, then the price is alright

but if they're talking about Reman, wow, they are trying to rip you OFF, BIG time.

To me it looks like he (or someone) had the engine recall done at one time and the engine passed. As part of the recall they replaced his plugs. Now he has a failed engine at 91,000 miles and wants a new engine from Mazda. Don't see where he has any chance of that happening.

how could it pass if it didn't even start? ...idle a few revolutions and stall...the diagnostic recommend driving it for a few miles....Good luck with that...I hope they had a few strong guys in the shop to push...

thanks but, I don't think what you were saying was the case this time, Ericok.

Move on?

What about taking it to another dealership and explaining what happened!?! Do you think that they would help me?

Thanks

So let me get this right, once your car didn't run anymore they did the "recall" in the parking lot and replaced the sparkplugs?

Maybe you should hit up zoom44, he has some good numbers to call.

You got it right! They pushed it into the bay! Makes me sick just thinking about it.

If you haven't called MNAO about this situation that's your next step. If you have called MNAO then you really need to consult a lawyer. I don't know the laws well enough to say for sure, but I seriously doubt it's legal for them to try to make you pay for work that's part of a recall at any mileage. This recall is from last summer - fall depending on location, and some didn't get mail about it until late fall. It's not like you waited 2 years after the recall was published.

let me understand the sequence better.

the car stalled
took to dealer
dealer found it flooded
dealer found low compression
they deflooded it
replaced spark plugs

is that right? if so have they re run the compression after deflooding it and replacing the plugs or not? also did they do a compression test OR a vacuum check as described in the RECALL

Now its sitting in a mechanics lot waiting for a new engine.
wait - it stalled and they gave you this

is that right?

Interested in who this is going to work out...

Where did you buy the car? If from a Mazda dealer they should have done the recall before selling it to you...

I got the car from a maple shade mazda affiliate (Richardson Imports - turnersville, Nj), but went to get the work done at maple shade mazda.

thanks

ok well then the whole thing makes no sense-

the invoice says "suggest replace engine" right above "4206f" which is the recall work- if they followed the recall procedures and found no compression then THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE as per the Recall.

https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...60&postcount=7

8. Did you experience any of the following during the test drive?

YES – Engine replacement required, complete ENGINE REPLACEMENT PARTS ORDER FORM and refer
to PARTS INFORMATION section for engine ordering process.
Since they suggest replacing the engine - THEY MUST KNOW IT HAS A PROBLEM. therefor they have to replace it.

OR

After deflooding it they ran the compression check AGAIN and found it had good compression. This can happen since the flooding washes away the oil from teh seals. once the flooding is dealt with compression returns. if this is the case get tehm to GIVE YOU A COPY OF THE COMPRESSION TEST NUMBERS IN WRITING. and ask them why they want you to pay for a new motor if yours is actually fine. if they say its not fine then ITS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL
