Saying Bye Bye
Finally i learned how to drive manual!! on a friends STi, and that was a pain for him to teach me! haha Just wanted to say that I already traded in my AT RX-8 and got a Dodge Neon SRT-4 in Blue with 5,968 miles on it, and I'm very happy with how it runs, still learning the whole manual thing....
Just wanted to say to all you members, thanks for helping me out with my problems, even though I may have been a pest with stupid questions! Take care of yourself, and hope your 8's last a while without problems.... God Bless!

I'm sorry to hear you're giving up a performance RWD car for one with a FWD drivetrain..oh well.I do understand how you would rather drive manaul over auto though(as most of us would) anyways good luck with your dodge

yeah I get that our 8's don't exactly have the straight-line performance that some people are looking for, but whats with all these people trading them in, not that theres anything wrong with it, but it seems like the 8 is just losing it's "Peonage" yeah well see you 8 ******* on the road

My car. I have an 04 touring 6mt with appearance package, and spoiler. I bought for 24.5K. If this car gets totalled, the value is currently at 26.4K, trade in at 19K (highly doubtfull). My wife works at the insurance company and thats what I would get as payout 26.4K. I would actually make money off a total.
An SRT4 with same options (as close as I can get them):
Same milage and color. Trade in at 13K and valued at 18K. 4 to 5K loss for an excellent condition 2 year old SRT4. How many kids buy these car and keep them in excellent condition? I would guess very few, just as many non-modded evo's are out there...This is a car that gets bought to be driven hard...
Don't confuse retail and trade in price for Value. The insurance companies go by the value of the car, not what a dealer would give you...

Your wife works for the insurance company, you bought a car that Mazda had to discount heavily in order to get it off the lots, should for some freak reason you total your car out you will make out slightly better than a SRT-4 owner if they do the same. Life is SWEET, huh?

Sorry guys, as far as rx8'x keeping thier value as long you hit a tree, being prepared for things life throws at you is just smart thinking. I'm sure no one expects to total a car, but it gets even worse if you find out that your insurance isn't going to cover the entire loss. My point was and still is, that value and what the dealer gives you are entirely different things.
No need for gap insurance because I'm far under the value. I would not pay 33K for an RX8.
I've seen srt's going in the high 21-low 22K range in my area, and yes, life is sweet...
And if you think that the insurance inspector won't notice if your drive wheels are completely bald and the others are in fairly good condition and won't make adjustments for it, your in for a surprise...
BTW IKe, I see you got your banana back...
