scratches when its still new!!!!!!
So i bought my rx8 friday night at the dealership. The time i bought it was around 10:30 at night. It is a black GT. The next day i am looking at it and notice about 10 scratches on the car that i couldn't see at night. I took it to the dealership and they said they will fix it. I took it monday. They called today and now tell me they are trying to get the scratch out as much as possible but they don't know if they can get it out all the way. i was like WTF! They said it will be done by tomorrow. If they can't get it out should i have them repaint it or give me an extra discount or what? i didn't buy a new car to have 10 scratches on it! thanks for your help

I found one scratch on mine when I got it home, luckily it was in a low-visibility area. Some rubbing compound took care of it; now you need a magnifying glass and perfect lighting to spot it.
Mine is now 4 months old and there are a few pits and scratches from tiny stones on the road and other debris. I agonized about it at first, but you have to realize that pits and scratches come with driving a car. There's no avoiding it and it will just make you nuts if you obsess about it. And BTW, the Mazda touch-up paint is TERRIBLE. Very little pigment in it at all.
That said, only you can decide if the scratches straight from the dealer are worth taking a stand. You might want to try and get some freebie mods or accessories from them perhaps...or some free gas...they might be more open to a deal like that, than cash or discounts after the contract has been signed and the car legally sold.
Let us know what shakes out.
And just enjoy the car!

Well i went to the dealership today to pick up my car and every single one of the scratches were still on it. I realized that i could forget the tiny scratches but there are about 5-6 very large deep scratches on the car. I went to talk to the manager and he said he wouldn't do any think for the car because he already took a $2000 loss on the car! BS! No dealership would sell a car for a $2000 loss. Anyway, when i looked at it again it looks like a manufacture defect on the paint. He said if that is the case they will have the car repainted. I have to call tomorrow and talk to the service manager about it:banghead. I would post pics but the car is still at the dealership. I will let you know how everything goes.

take it back and say its a factory defect...i had an egg like spot on my driver door that i noticed the day after i bought the car...i also bought a black gt at night and didnt notice it until the morning...i took it back to the dealer and complained about it..they fixed it overnight and even gave me a free spoiler!

new or used?
new - worth the effort to at least get some free accessories or something along those lines.
used - GL - it's def on you. But you can prlly do a better, more thorough job cleaning them up than the dealer anyway. Buy what you need to work on them - you'll need it in the long run.

Hey guys thanks for the help. I went to the dealership and said it was a factory defect with the paint and they said they would fix it. the sales manger was a dick and wouldn't even talk with me anymore. he kept saying that he lost money on the sale and wont put a penny to fix my car. i took it to service and they said they would repaint it :-] but it is going to take 2-3 weeks until i get my car

You might want to talk to an attourney- depending on how long it has been since you signed the contract, you might be able to walk away. (Depends on the state).
