screeching sound on brake
Hi guys. I have a 04/AT RX8. Sometimes I found there is screeching sound when I depressed the brake pedal and just before car is totally stopped. I asked the tech in Mazda dealer and he told me my brake is ok. Can someone tell me how to eliminate the noisy sound? thx a lot

different pads probably. mine R3 does that too when braking lightly, as long as I press harder, it goes away. I think its just the nature of those pads. you want high temperature performance, its gonna be noisy when cold.

Back to the original post. If you want to keep your pads, try rebedding them (search on bedding brakes). If you rebed your brakes and they still squeal, try brake pad grease on the back of the pads and slide pins. You may also want to check if they are factory pads. If you do not have factory pads and you are using factory shims, that MAY be the squealing problem.
There are actually too many factors to why your brakes may be squealing. This is quite a vague thread, if you can get more specific information, then we may be able to help you eliminate that squealing.

There's a TSB (Technical Service Bullentin) from Mazda about this issue.
As SayNoToPistons said there are numerous issues. The one I was told the most was the Mazda Pads brake dust builds up causing that lovely squel. I always loved the randomness of the sequel. It became a major c-blocker. I'd pull up to a group of girls and you'd hear it. Really impressive right?
It's really a tolerance or attempt to regrease the back as per TSB. Or upgrade to Brembos
