seat cushion sucks

Hey guys I have done some searching on this subject but have not found any answers to it.The problem is I am a big guy,but not really too over weight, but the seat cushion on the bottom of my car seems like it should be a bit more dense. The thing is because I am so wide in the hind quarters that my legs are sitting on the outer part of the seat.My weight pushes down on the cushion so much that I am hitting the metal frame work of the seat.It isn't an issue on shorter trips but on the long ones I find it to be uncomfortable.I love the way the seats gripp me but I think the foam or what ever in the side bolster of the bottom needs to be firmer.Does anyone else have these issues?Oh yeah I am 6'2" tall and around 250lbs.Like I said I am a big guy. This is the only thing so far I dislike about the car.Any ideas as to a fix for this?Would the leater seats be more comfortable?Maybe I could trade with someone.Yeah right. Thanks in advance.

sorry, i dont share the same problem. i'm 5'8" and 130 lbs. i know i'm a small guy, but hey i'm growing. lots of aftermarket manufacturers make larger seats. try maybe looking into some Recaro's...not sure about them though.

how hard is it to put an aftermarket seat in the RX8. Any custom ones made yet?

if they're not made specifically for the RX8, you have to fit it yourself. good luck on that. if they are made for the RX8 its a breeze.

Yeah I'm 5' 10" and 230 lbs. Not a problem on trips as far as 3k miles so far. Of course I have leather.

I'm 6'-0" and 240lbs. Things I've noticed about the seats (cloth @ 9,500 miles):

1. There is a metal plate with no padding below the lumbar line that hits me in the tailbone when the seat bottom is at it's lowest position (raised 3 pumps to get away from it).

2. The side bolsters are going to need more stuffing in a few months (especially the one on my left since I abuse it getting in and out of the car).

3. My seat has developed a slight sqeak when going around corners (I don't think the Japanese were thinking of a 240lbs American when they designed and built this seat).

Once I kill my seat I plan on going aftermarket so I can be more comfortable/happy. Until then I'll continue to destroy my original seat.

You can go to an auto upholstry shop and have them put some denser foam in the bolster. Should cost around $125.

That's what sun shades and tinting is for. Keeping your leather cool.

I guess they didn't have too many 6'2'' 250 lb japanese engineers around for reference when they were designing the seats . You can always count on the american companies to design seats for the bigger boys.

The metal plate gets my husband too on his tailbone when the seats all the way down. He just had to move it up a bit and the problem is fixed. He's a little skinny guy at 5'10 150lbs.
