Second oil change...PISSED!! (mazda service)

I just got back from my second service even done on my car. (an oil change)
I went to the dealer i bought the car from (128 Mazda, Wakefield, Ma) for the first one (3 months ago) and i ended up waiting 2 hours just for an oil change, then they over charged me $20, left dirt all over the stearing wheel and the inside was wrapped with more plastic than when it cameoff the assembly line. I think they should remove all the potection wrap then use before they give it back. so i complained and got nothing and got nowhere with the service managers. Finally after 2 weeks i got my $20 back from when they over charger me.....
So i went back there for my second oil change and i was told they would have it done in 2 1/2 - 3 hours.....i said "Screw this" and drove ALL the WAY back home to my more local Mazda (IRA 114 Mazda, Danvers, Ma) to give them all my upcomeing buisness and service.......they took me in and changed the oil....cost me $10 more ($36) for them to do it and so i go outside to find my BLACK Rx-8 went through a friggin automatic car wash!! I did not get ANY talk of a wash or warning of a wash. I could friggin run my nail in on the scratches and lines left by the "touchless wash"!! I kept my mouth shut and drove home.....so i get out of the car....look at my half washed rims and half washed front and rear bumper to see my friggin left rear light scratched and pushed in a bit with yellow "pole" paint and my bumper right under it all scratched to the plastic....with white plastic showing!!

I called FURIOUS and "My" service manager has just left for the week and i demanded i come down right now to have pics taken and so a managment person can see the freash yellow pant and fresh scratches.....he lets me come down and he brings out the "Recon Manager" who could be my son and said he will buff out the paint on my light and bumper! I said unacceptiable and said i would be back tonight.......Sorry for the long writeup but if this does not get fixed through this dealeship who can i call from Mazda Corp? Is there a Corperate # that i can get? I know i will get no where with the GM's if it comes to it.....Thanks again
Sorry.....im venting!

I'd be pissed too!

Had mine in twice, both oil changes were free, and my dealer hand washes the cars when he has time. Service has been great, even had winter tires and wheels installed there.

This kind od dis-service should not be tolerated, especially by Mazda Canada.

Its too bad but as much as I love this car, on a whole the Dealers suck! yes, there are some good ones but they are few and far between. Mazda is so far behind in the customer service arena.

Unfortunately, I suspect you are correct. I think you could say that about the service departments of most other manufacturers as well. I have found it REALLY difficult to find a trustworthy and competent service department no matter which make I owned. That's why I do all my own maintenance and only take the car in for service when it is something I absolutely can't do myself.

Fortunately, I have managed to find decent service departments for the other makes I own or have owned, but have not had much experience with Mazda service departments in my area of the south-central PA. Hopefully, I will never have much experience with them.

I have had fairly good luck dealing with MNAO if I'm pushy enough and don't let the CSR get me off the phone like they want. I just start telling them about the wonderful service my wife and I get at the BMW dealership and that changes their cooler than Jesus attitude. I think you will get somewhere but you have to be persistent.

That sucks! Sorry to hear that. How about working a deal with a friend or relative to use their garage? Or maybe look into an arrangement with a local shop to use some of their space as needed? Would be worth spending a few bucks to rent space for a few hours per month just to do that. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about the horrible service. If I have that kind of problem with my dealer I will take it somewhere other then Mazda for oil changes. Also there are good oil change service places in my area that are less expensive then the dealer. Again sorry to hear more bad news about Mazda service.

More like MAzda customer NO SERVICE.....

I am extremely disappointed with Mazda's customer service.
(Cust service said that I needed the dealer to set up a "regional rep" meeting. Sounds good, but they did NOT do what I asked so I called the 800#....they said talk to the dealer.....when I told them I did talk to the dealer....they said then I should go to another dealer)

PATHETIC!

Jeff, Call back and refuse to take no for an answer. If they start to give you a hard time then ask for the manager. I had a very similar thing happen except that my dealer decided to do something about it without the call for the paint but they refused to give me the "M" flash and to take care of my other problem. The first person I talked to at MNAO said basically the same thing you experienced above. I got off the phone started to steam and then called back! I let the person on the other end of the phone know I was extremely disappointed and that my BMW dealership would never treat me that way. I told them that I would trade my car in on the M3 I was originally going to buy and that I would never buy a Mazda again if this was the best that Mazda's customer service could do. The attitude of the gentleman I spoke with the second time was quite a bit better and they even called the dealer for me and had it all straightened out for me telling me to call the dealer back to set an appointment to get it all taken care of. I get treated like gold now whenever I take my car in and the only person that will write up my service orders is the Service Manager or the Asst. Service Manager. So don't get frustrated make them frustrated.

It's not good to hear that my two closest dealerships are staffed by retards. Looks like I might have to go to southern NH for my service

Don't anticipate MNAO doing much. They can help get your car repaired if it breaks, they can work with a dealer to solve a problem you might have with the car, but they can't repair idiots who provide poor service and send cars out damaged.

Send a cool, calm and collected letter to MNAO stating your problem, and the impression it has left on you regarding Mazda Service in general. MNAO value their customers, so if they think they might lose one, they will try and help.

But your troubles with this dealer have to be solved between you and the dealer. If they damaged the car, they have to repair it. If it were me, I would ask them how they plan to prevent future 'accidents'. How many other cars have they damaged? Do they know their car wash scratches cars?? If they are not interested in improving, you have two choices. Either don't use them, or make their ineffeciencies public (on the internet etc.). Don't try and make them improve, if they are not interested then you are blowing into the wind...

Good luck!

You should do a walk-around right in front of them when they bring your car out when service is done.

I wash my car before bringing in for service so I know every little scratch and mark.
That's another reason why I like to use California Car Duster everyday so I can easily catch anything that has occurred overnight.
