Sorry to disappoint, this one does have chrome rims. But they're the real RX-8 rims, so they look pretty sharp. I might swap 'em out in a couple months though.

Also, should I have the dealer take off the moonroof deflector before I pick it up? Or just do it myself? I see it is universally hated.

Sweet! Congratulations! One thing to remember is you WILL stall when you're first driving (and even after you've been driving for a while, just rarely). Don't freak out, just give it a restart and don't rush - rushing can make you stall over and over again. Good luck! Now make yourself an avatar and post some pictures of your new ride!

No ..No.... don't drive it.

You'll like it and buy it.

Don't drive it.

The REAL Rx8 chrome rims are not aftermarket nor gaudy, therefore they are an exception and is an automatic wheel mod! Pass go, collect lowering springs!

I just got home from the dealership (took a loooong detour). Okay, this car makes me nervous and ecstatic at the same time. Wow. Going to be a hell of a ride once I get used to it. There are times of sheer terror (OH **** AM I HURTING IT!?) and times of pure, sweet bliss when I actually get through a gear smoothly. Hell yeah!

Ok, now give it to me straight. How much of this bucking is actually hurting the car? Will I do crazy damage if I keep this up for more than a couple days? Have I already wounded it?

no, you're fine, what ever you're doing, she likes it

you know those moments when you spank a girl in bed, and then you go "oh **** I think she hates me now" then she comes back and says "MORE!!!"

yea, like that

Seems like I'm getting the hang of it this morning. Got all the way to work (20 mi) with no stalls. Even had to do heavy stop-and-go traffic on the freeway, and I still made it through okay! Every successful shift feels like a victory!

It's not lazy using the e-brake on a steep hill, it's proper and safe, not to mention easier on the clutch. But on an easy grade I don't bother either.

Or you can be lazy and use the e-brake.

Honestly it's not very hard to figure out and get going, get the MT you'll never look back.

That just the beginning. Get on the site and fall in love with the car even more only to realize that you just got to work and still have to wait another 8 hours to go and drive her again. It's painful! Heh.

But welcome to the Club! And good job on picking MT, there is no way you'll regret it. I can't even remember how many times I've been able to tell people they can't "test drive" it because they don't know how to drive stick :P

I call it the MT placebo effect. Every time I've gone from driving an AT for a while then back to driving MT, I freak out every time I hear all the goofy manual noises. It'll be fine. You'll stop bucking so badly soon, and it sounds like you've already got stalling pretty well under control. Even people who have been driving manual for years still buck and stall on occasion, it's just the nature of the beast. Now go enjoy it and stop worrying so much!

Also, it seems the more natural you make your shifting motion, the smoother things get. It's not usually the fastest way to shift, but man does it feel good to get a shift just right in every way.
