Sell my rx8 for 350z or 2006+ civic si?

My fenders are stock. My focus for wheels/tires/suspension is track and autocross, while still being capable for daily driver function. I contemplated going with +38 18x9 instead of the +45 18x9, but reasoned that having less scrub radius would help track use. I do think +38 would look better though, and have contemplated running some 5 mm spacers to achieve that look on the street.
You said you wanted to achieve the look your S13 had; does that mean you want a "stretched" look? 225 on 9" wheels is pretty stretched in my opinion.
Those Varrstoen 2.2.1 look a lot like my MB Weapons. Nice look.

I honestly don't know what stretch means. I hear it all the time and I'm not sure exactly what it means. I'm not necessarily trying to stretch it on purpose, I'm just trying to fit everything nicely without rubbing.

Everyone's definition of stretched can be slightly different since there are grey areas. Just compare the below two pictures:
225/40 on 18x9:
265/35 on 18x9:
I consider anything wider than what the tire manufacturer recommends for wheel width as "stretch". This is subjective of course, so some might have different limits as to when they consider it stretched.
The whole stretch idea comes from drifting and the hellaflush seen. This is not the best route for performance.

Hmm good post. I think the difference I can see is how much the rim sticks out from the tire? Is that the stretch? The 265 almost looks the rim sits in it better. Is that what you are trying to show?
Out of those 2, which has the better fitment?

Definately the 265/35R18 on 18x9. IMO, stretch is bad.

I am running 18x9 ET45 with 265/35 all around with no issues, and I am on Progress Tech springs.
If you take some time and read the "Will it Fit" thread in the wheels/tires section, you will get the idea of the limits without fender modification.

mod edit: Uncalled for. You can disagree with someone's actions, motivations, and issues without getting personally offended, or attempting to personally offend them in return.

Alright people, calm down. Someone trying to decide over a car color is certainly not outside the realm of discussion topics on the forum. I'd guess that most of us certainly had a color preference in mind when we got our 8, regardless of whether or not we ended up with it. He may have different motivations than us, different perspective, and even different female attribute preferences, but that isn't any reason to begin with the attacks.
This is a friendly mod warning. Heed it before I start handing out something more severe.

OP, this is actually a pretty good idea here. For a couple thousand, you could have your 8 vinyl wrapped in exactly the color you want. It protects the real paint underneath, far cheaper than re-painting, removable later if a future owner decides they want red more than blue, etc...

Just buy a air gun for painting.
The way PD works its very hard to mess up. Or you could vinyl wrap it too like what riwwp said. I believe they even make metallic vinyl wrap, im not sure if it would have the same depth qualities as paint, but if matte isnt your thing....
just remember you need to update your registration to show that you drive a blue car now.

It just astounds me the "problems" people have some times. People forget there are people worried about feeding themselves. And way to use my recommendation guys

Coming across in just text on a forum, it's often easy to lose sight of the mood or tone or urgency that a post is written in. Or not written in. Just because he is 'talking about it out loud' on the forum doesn't mean that this is a horrible agonizing problem for him. It could be just something that he thinks about while dealing with the rest of life, and comes here to muse about it where people can give him feedback.
(I do that all the time)
Don't always assume that the attitude or mood you detect in a post is the one intended or even present. Your own attitude and mood will color anything you read far more than how it was written

My 265/35 on 18x9 ET45 still aren't close to the maximum tire you can fit. I wouldn't recommend going larger than 265/35R18 though.
My suggestion......get some springs first. You will be surprised how good stock wheels/tires can look on a moderately lowered RX-8. Nothing looks weirder/goofier than nice wheels/tires on a non lowered car.

You are new, so you may not be aware, but rx8club has a zero tolerance for street racing. Keep your street racing stories to yourself, our at least tell everyone you were at the drag strip.

I test drove a 350Z a couple of years ago and HATED it.
It's subjective. I am not saying it's a bad car, but am saying that the 8 has better handling while managing to also have better ride quality as a daily driver, has better steering, has a better manual and clutch (way better clutch), and fully grown human beings can fit in the back of the 8-- these are all attributes important to me in terms of a daily driver.
The 350Z has more torque, power and nice exterior design, but it really does earn the moniker of "Japanese Camaro," IMO.
The 370Z is a vast improvement over the 350Z, IMO, but then again, it's a LOT more expensive.
