selling my 8 to get a 7 ,, good idea?
I love my 8 , but it doesnt' have the power I want, and its expensive to reach the 350whp mark. So I've come to a somewhat conclusion to buy this guy's rx7.
The car is 1994 with 57000 miles on chassis. He has new paint and everything.
Single turbo set up and basically everything you can do to a car.
The car puts down about 350whp at 12 psi.
But I don't want to lose reliability after I make this move.
Also, A/C, P/S ( what is this?? ) and ABS have been removed from this car.
The car was touring but the sunroof was shut and welded and painted also, which is only thing I don't like this car other than A/C and what not.
Is This the right move for me?
I need some opinions !! Thanx.

Do you really want old and broken or new and hot.
All the FD drivers in my area seem to be continually have their cars in the shop for engine problems. An FD would be fun, but not for a daily driver.

I agree, do some lurking on rx7club and there are problems with the engine setup as stock. Plus also turbo parts do get expensive. Its a beautiful car and I would love to have one as a weekend driver, but as a daily driver I think it would be a bit of a stretch

5th gear syncro's been repaired, engine runs safely at 12psi with 11.5:1 AFR, and all the reliability mods have been done. No dirty stock twin vacuum lines, no cooling issue due to upgraded intercooler. Here's the thread.

Whatever you'd save on power-adders you'd spend on keeping that car on the road.
And that car has obviously been beat pretty good. Removed power steering, Removed air conditioning, removed moonroof, and a single turbo -- all point to a guy very serious about hardcore racing. Not to mention a car not well-suited to being a daily driver.

It's practically a racecar. You will most definately miss your 8 as a daily driver. Do whatever makes you happy but don't expect it to behave like the 8 on the road. That kind of car will beat you up as a dd. Go test drive it and see for yourself.

Be sure you have at least 10k in the bank for engine repairs at all times, and be sure you have a good rotary mechanic in your area or are very mechanically inclined with a lot of spare time and good troubleshooting skills

I guess the question is do you want a semi-racecar or a car for everyday use? If the rational for getting the FD is pure horsepower (ie. 350hp on the FD) then the 8 was a coin-flip to begin with, not knowing what type of aftermarket products would be available, when they would be available, and if they could even get to the level you wanted.
I agree with the other posters that based on the description, this car was set up for high-performance/racing, so it's definately buyer beware.
Having has a stock FD for over three years, there are alot of positive points to getting one, but the FD doesn't come close to the 8 as far as it being a car you can use everyday.
Good Luck with your decision!

I have a 7 and an 8....the 8 is my everyday driver...the 7 could never be because it's got the hood up and parts laying around about 60% of the time...but i love them both...but i wouldn't trust the 7 as your everyday driver unless you have another car to get you where you need to go all the time

no power steering? sounds like something from NASCAR. got to use all your strength just to turn the beast. don't get me wrong, i would love to have one myself, but like most of the others, i would not want it as an everyday driver. weekend use would be perfect. why not try and keep the 8 and try to also buy the 7. stay happy with two great cars.

anyways your a ****** idiot if you're going to swap an 8 for a beat up track'ed out FD for a daily driver. with as little you know(you dont even know that p/s means power steering) an FD as a daily driver would be the worst move you could possibly make. even if you knew everything about them its a shitty *** daily driver. you need to have it as a 2nd or third car.
