Seriously man, your attempts at making yourself seem intelligent are backfiring big time. The garbage u post is either incorrect or just aimed to belittle people. Cool it already. How many times does Yax have to punk you for you to get it?

The difference between going from a 225/45-18 and a 245/45-18 results in ONLY a2.7% difference in rolling circumference, NOWHERE NEAR the error he says he's seeing...

It also means that by going to a LARGER tire, the speedometer will actually read 2.7% SLOWER. When the speedometer reads 60mph, you're actually going 61.6mph.

Why don't YOU think before calling somebody else stupid?

I do realize he came back and said the tires were the stock size.
He said he was going faster than what we know the car does in each gear. He didn't specify how he was reading the speeds. For all i know he was using gps for that. Basically we are saying the same thing here; which is that he was going faster than what the car normally can do for each gear with 225/45's. I realize now after verifying for myself that it would indeed make only about a 2.8% difference, which is clearly not enough to make up for the 10% plus changes he is claiming. But then again, the op didn't even know how wide his tires were...which is an indication that they have no clue what they are doing in the first place.

haha wait, what about my statement that 225/45 having a smaller diameter than 245/45 is incorrect? Let me know when you figure this out ok.

What is your location? Is your car in km per hour or miles per hour? The best upgrade size tire IMO is the 245X40X18.

This is correct. Thank you. The only time it has anything to do with power is in higher gears where the engine may not have enough power to overcome drag causing the car to not be able to reach redline.

Double check your math, honcho.

What?

Can't really comment as 09s have different ratios and top out even lower on each gear..

heyguy - That's the same gearing as mine (04 6sp manual), but you're not going to see 10,000 RPMs in 6th gear. Just because the tach says 10k doesn't mean you'll ever see it.

At 60mph in 6th gear, you should be at 3100 RPMs. That's what you've observed, so you definitely have the stock gearing.

You can't go 77mph in 2nd. You can't. Nobody's 04-08 RX8 6M with the stock gearing is any different.

If you REALLY want to prove it, take it up to 9,000 RPM's in second gear, don't shift, and look down at the speedometer. You'll be going 65-66 MPH.

so you came and made a thread based on what you "feel" instead of actually looking down before shifting?!
first gear, you'll see 39-42, just like the rest of us
