Series 2 Fog Light Bulb Upgrade

I decided to change over most of the bulbs in my 2011 GT to LED. The owners manual includes a list for most of the bulbs but I think they were wrong stating “the fog lights are HB4/9005”. The halogen bulbs I removed were definitely 9006 and the yellow LEDs that I installed were also 9006! They fit fine and work great.

I have found several references that state a 9005 is an HB3 so I can only guess that there was an error in the manual. Anyone else notice this? I don’t believe 9005 and 9006 are interchangeable. The map lights are WAY brighter as well.

Appreciate this since I’m going to update the fog lights on my 2010.

I initially installed Sylvania 9006 Yellow Halogen bulbs and was totally disappointed. Waste of $45 from Canadian Tire (I should have known better!). So then I bought Phinlion Yellow LEDs for $31 on Amazon.

PHINLION 9006 Yellow Fog Light Bulbs 3800 Lumens Super Bright HB4 9006LL LED Bulb Replacement for Car Truck SUV Fog Lights or DRL Lamps, 3000K Golden Yellow

Worked like a charm however the install is a bit tricky as my car has the RacingBeat Oil cooler protection screens that interfere slightly. After pulling the chrome decorative piece straight forward to remove, I ended up removing both the 10mm adjusting screw and the small phillips screw with washer on the side. That way I was able to gently maneuver the reflector out of the mounting bracket (it slides left or right) then remove the bulb and connector. Simply be patient and especially be careful that the connector does not damage the oil cooler! Make sure you re-aim the reflector and tighten that locking bolt along with re-installing the SS screw and washer on the end of the reflector mounting post.
