Seriously thinking about it

Hello everyone,

New member here. I went and test drove the rx8 today and i must say that i was very, very impressed. i loved the acceleartion (hence the name) and it handled beautifully. The inside seemed a little bit cramped but i guess it's expected as it's a sports car. i love the suicide doors since i have a wee one that needs to be able to sit in the back. I had a couple of questions for you rx8 owners:

1. is maintenace a pain? do you change your own oil? i
2. how much do you guys/gals pay for insurance.
3. is this a girl's car? i know this might sound stupid but i swear the only people driving rx8s seem to be girls.

not that it really matters, if it's a girls car cause it drove awesome. i actually got out of the car after test driving it and realized i had big sweat stains under my armpits. haha...guess it really excited me.

1) No. No.
2) $900/year for 100/300/100, $30/day rental, uninsured motorist, and $500 ded. You should be able to get a quote online or via 800# pretty much 24/7 so why don't you check out what yours would run
3) Check out pictures from RX8 gatherings...it's all guys. Heck the biggest complaint around here is that RX8Club.com is a sausage party :D

So. When are you gona by! What colors and options. And post pics cuz that's a requirement around here

a side note on #2 insurance. in case those numbers don't make sense to you, i pay such a minimal amount because:

1) it's considered a 1.3 liter
2) has four doors and is not considered a sports car.

it's one of the cool benefits of owning this car.

1. Just check your oil every few fill ups as rotary engines like to eat oil. I usually juet let the dealer change the oil but could do it myself.
2. As Napboy said, its considered a low power 4 door sedan...hehe
3. I usually see guys driving them around here.

On my first test drive it seemed a little claustrophobic too, but that goes away almost immediately. Everything is within an arms reach, and it's like sitting in the cockpit of a fighter. My little one likes having her own door, and it's "cool" because it opens backwards. She also LOVES having cup holders in the back. Another thing - she's prone to car sickness, but not in this car. (?) In fact, she tends to fall asleep in this one. (???)

Maintenance - only 4,000 miles here, so not much maintenance yet. Two quarts of oil in that time.

Insurance - I've had USAA for 25 years, so I got a great deal on insurance, <600/year.

Yes, girls really like this car. REPEAT - GIRLS REALLY LIKE THIS CAR! :D
