Service Dept Procedures - PITA
Basically this is just a vent ....
I have water condensation in the left rear light fixture (big deal, who doesn't at one time or another). I call the service department and they assure me of four things:
- No, no problem the fixture will be replaced under warranty
- No, they do not stock that part
- No, they cannot order the part until I bring the car in for service
- No, I just can't bring it by and a get them to quickly confirm the problem. It has to "go into the shop".
So now I have to leave the car so they can look at it (even though the condensation will probably be gone by then) and say "yup, needs a new fixture". And then I have to bring the car back a second time to actually get it fixed.
What a pain in the A......

Wow.. my shop is REALLY good about things like this. They just ask me to bring the car in so they can look and verify the problem. Once it's documented they order parts and I can drive off and wait for the call to schedule an appointment.
Sounds like you need to find a new shop.

They even made me bring it in for a service appointment so they could "install" the new engine cover grommets (that had to be ordered) covered under the TSB. Because it is a warranty issue they were supposed to do the install and could not just give me the parts.
Nothing like "customer service".
