She's gone
After a couple of months (like 18 to be exact) of procrastinating, finally sold my RX8. I had an '06 GT which I had bought at an auction with one thousand miles about 2 years ago. My dad fixed it for me. I remember the first time I saw it. I remember the first time I drove it. I only got rid of it for financial reasons, used the money to pay off debt. I also remember the day she drove away...Man I've never been emotional over a car. I literally got teary eyed. I got about $3.5k to spend and have been test driving cars, mostly civics. They're pretty expensive down in Miami, I managed to find a 1999 with 90k miles for $2500. Test drove some with b18's and b20's and just couldn't figure out why these kids go crazy over that motor...But they are slightly quicker than my girlfriend's Yaris. Any suggestions on other cars? I got the shop so a fixer upper would be ideal...I'm considering civics, mr2's, volvo s60's, integra's. Found some clean fc's but...they're just not my thing with these gas prices.

Thanks. Yea I do prefer Acura's...but they're going for like $4k down here. I'm not spending 4 thousand dollars on a 90's Honda. I almost got an 2001 330 for $3500 (needed bushings, and a gasket replaced).

You're wise to avoid debt. The bottom end of the car market is tough now - a bad economy means a lot of people looking in that price range. Japanese cars tend to be overpriced used relative to their age/miles since "everyone" knows they are reliable. The best deals are for common cars that "nobody" wants. Every corner garage can repair a Taurus or Grand Prix, and every Autozone will have parts in stock - not so with Accura or Volvo. Trust me, there's nothing worse than having payments on a car sitting in your driveway that you can't afford to fix. Examine your real world driving. Is it worth paying double for a car that gets 30 mpg vs one that gets 20? Florida is great in that one can get a low miles, rust free (unless it's lived on the coasts), geezer mobile for cheap. Another option is to look for a Prizm/Nova/Vibe that's basically a Toyota, but will sell cheaper than the corresponding Toyota. Put off buying a cool car until you can really afford one.
