Shift Boot
I am thinking about buying a new shift boot from this site: Mazda RX8 2003+ shift boot - RedlineGoods leather shift boot store
I was wondering if anyone can vouch for it and also if anyone has done this and can tell me if it is an easy thing to do.
Thanks alot.

44.00 ...
I payed so much more for my illuminated ****/boot combo.
I got the combo (from a different vendor but i'm sure essentially its the same product) and its super easy to install. But to be honest, I think this combo probably comes with instructions (mine did), which will be what you should follow.
Basically there is a splitter that each heated seat cable goes into, and the combo includes a piece that you plug both seats into, and utilize one of the previous seat hookups for the illuminated shifter ****. I know I'm not explaining it well but mine came with really detailed pictures and instructions. Maybe thats why mine was so much more lol.
If you're just getting the boot its not as bad. You just unscrew the **** off, do a little console unscrewing/prying and then you slide the boot off.
Make SURE if you get the illuminated **** that you put a BIG sign taped to it when you go to a dealer NOT to rotate/twist the **** because they will break the wire that powers the light.
If you look for an online technical service manual for the RX8, it shows the steps you need to take to take apart the center console and replace the boot. I would start there.

Awesome that sounds pretty cool. Im glad you got it going. Just make sure you're gentle when you pry the plastic piece out from where the cup holder is. If you're trying to keep the interior in ship shape I know that it scuffs and gets scratched by the screwdriver easily (mine did). I had to replace the inner shift boot that cancels out the ground noise (that I bought from some1 here actually, thx again to them) and it definitely only takes once or twice doing it to not forget, so you're all set.
