On the other hand, you have a torque converter, which is what makes normal automatics retarded (to me.)

I'm wondering when Mazda's gonna make us a true f-1 type gearbox. Complete with electric or hydraulic computer-controlled clutch with infinite programmability. Only then will I buy an "automatic."

I haven't noticed this. I've adjusted my shifting hand position and grasp the shifter with my thumb pointed up. Seems to feel more comfortable now but awkward in the begining.

not in a life time, you can always change the shifter and still have more of a car, besides i have always truly believe that automatic cars are for rich, old bored grandpas that by the time they can get a real sports car, they can't shift anymore so they have to make automatic..! AND I MEAN NOT TO INSULT ANYONE HERE just a personal phylosofy

I spoke to Voodoo Bob already about it. The Miata and RX8 share the same thread design. His partner has an RX8 too, so they were able to try the miata one. also, the FD has the same thread design too. great shift *****.

i knew it as amatter of time before you said something about it.. i said i did not mean any disrispect or anything in the mater.. there are always exceptions to the rules .. who knows your motives for AT.. if it was me, i would have learned how to or save a little bit more or what ever it took, just coz i know the differences btw AT and MT street cars, besides MT are easier to modify, well more expandable.. so please don't take it personal

i hope the next rx-7 comes with an electro-hydraulic manual w/ comp controlled clutch

as well as in 6 speed manual trim.
with an open gate or whatever you want to call it where you can see the slots for the gear position, like ferreris and lamborghinis

the gates make it more difficult to shift quickly. there was a gated shifter plate for the miata, and i was so close to getting it. but then i tested one out, and it makes shifting more difficult. but it does look damn cool.

Not necessarily a "driver challenge" sense of the word "harder"...just means you have to manually/deliberately go over and up/down on every other shift, and can't just push it in quickly in a diagonal fashion like most cars. And I don't see why you'd want to lose any quick-shifting feel on an RX-8 or Miata, where quick and short shifting/shifting feel is a high point.

As another member mentioned, the Miata ***** fit the RX-8 and if you check the Team Voodoo site you'll find they have TITANIUM too. I've had a black powder coated Voodoo **** on our SVT Contour for 5 years and it shows no sign of wear. Had one on the Miata too, and now I wish I'd kept the ****. Also, please notice how **** is spelled.

My MT **** is worn out already as well. The metal piece at the top jiggles around and makes noise everytime that I drive the car (very annoying). I went to Pep Boys and looked for a replacement, but wonder about fitment?

Don't really want to take it in for warranty, because they would just give me the same piece of crap.
