I'm still trying to figure out how to get my 6speed manual INTO park. Maybe you can help me out with that one.

Seriously, though, sometimes I have to release and depress the clutch again before the stick'll go into reverse. I'm sure you've tried that, and every other "suggestion" in this thread already. Good luck with getting this bug worked out.

actually, it sounds like he is missing the suggestions on this thread. i never thought it would be so funny to read 7 posts of the same exact thing.

I think he is misunderstanding "pushing down" on the shifter?

i was going to write more but realize the innate idiocy in another attempt at instruction

I think that he's laughing his *** off at all the people trying to explain such a simple task on an online forum.

I'll admit that I had trouble getting it in reverse the first time. After figuring out that I had actually put it in 6th i realized that you had to do something else to get into reverse.

I'd like to hear back to see if this was the problem or if was actually something mechanically wrong with the 8. Cuz first time I tried to reverse I went forward. I got out the manual and looked up "reverse" and read how to do it.

He doesn't state if his is new or used. If it is used, it might have the AFE short shifter. That shifter is slightly harder to get into reverse than the stock shifter. In some rare cases, the end user had to slightly file the lockout tab on the shifter to get it to clear the metal tab. It's funny how something so simple is driving so many members on this board to lose their mind. For all I know, it sounds so trivial, I am starting to think he is a troll. His responses don't even reflect that he have read any of the responses. He still doesn't say that he have pressed the shifter vertically downwards and then to the right and into reverse.

Q: How to I get my car to start, I put the key in and turn but it doesent seem to start... I turn turn and turn with full force... My wife was trying to get it to start and she almost broke the key, could it be that I have a bad starter?

A: You have to push the clutch when starting the car...

Theres nothing hard about the rx-8 at all, its all about "Knowing" what the F___ your doing.

Dont mean to sound like a dick, but the manual has all your answers... and if not... go ahead and take it to a dealer and have them walk you through it.

Go down on the Z-Axis.. then move over to the right ont he X-Axis.. then proceed down on the Y-Axis...

did that make sense? lol

I think he has a faulty Ring in the Reverse gate. Mine kept popping out of gear so i brought it in and got a refurb tranny under warranty.

This is why only real men are allowed to order the AFE shifter. Unfortunately, it seems punyboy here has somehow received a MAN's car.

I guess opening the manual was too hard. Someone better avoid ever buying his RX-8. Glad that the "problem" was solved.

Now that that's all settled, this is a shifter and gearbox that responds better to finesse than force. No need to slam throught the gears.
