Appreciate you passing on the word. Glad to hear they are on the way! At least they'll have time to get some port work done on them in Jersey if they hit mid-week!

Doh later then I wanted but pretty much exactly what I expected after looking at NYK lines schedules. I know mine is one of the 220 for NJ so I guess it is just a matter of how long till they reach dealers from then.

Budaman,
Did the DM indicate this is indeed the very first east bound ship to arrive? Or (fingers crossed) the second one?

Based on previous informatin from my dealer, it is probably the first one. 30 days from Japan to East coast on the nose

These are the first Eastbound boats. The only thing I can think of thats holding up the next group is the tropical storm off the coast of Mexico thats heading west to the south of Hawaii. They might be waiting to see what course it takes.

Ok my dealer finally returned my call and basically said my car is scheduled to arrive at the dealership on his sheet the third week of July but that was likely to move forward slightly. Just thought everyone would want to know that, I am in Lancaster PA btw which is about 3 hours from port.

With all the 8's that are coming to the East Coast, I wonder how many each dealer will get. Is it dependant upon the size of the dealer, geogrpahic location or something else? Also, how many dealers will these cars be divided among?

allocations

I believe my dealer is getting 3 of the them. All preorders, all sold now. 1st of their 3 preorder allocation of 9. Number a dealer gets should be directly proportional , +/-, to their normal sales volume. My dealer sells in the 35 / month Mazda units. For some dealers that may be a year, some it could be an entire summer. 220 cars, probably 40 - 60 dealers as a guess. Just in the DC area I'm sure there are 3 - 4 larger dealers and another 2 - 4 larger in Baltimore and yet a few more in Pittsburgh and a few more in Philly - then you have NY, NJ - gotta be 10 - 20 there. YMMV, I'm just estimating, no research here whatsoever.

Budaman and/or Ifubar: The dealers seems to be telling us "3rd week of July" for delivery. Are you being told to hold off delivery until the 3rd week of July so the whole US market will get delivery at the same time? I know when I ordered my WRX, delivery was March 12 for everyone. I hope they are not doing this. I do not care if California is first as long as I can get my car as soon as it is ready, which should be next week (Midlothian port, then to Arlington). Thanks to you both.

i talked to the sales manager yesterday about this, because mazda did have a hold sale on the 6 because they wanted to have a special day with a big production so the cars sat here for about a week and we could not sale them. our manager already said he will not hold the cars. as soon as my car is here we will start the paprerwork. so as of now there is nothing from mazda to hold them yet. i will let you know if i hear anything. i know if my car is here and i can see it without being able to buy it i will just go insane!!

You think any of the cars coming in anytime soon aren't pre-orders? I don't really want to wait until September to be able to find a car not sold before it gets to the lot.

I can guarentee that. My dealer is getting his first car in on the first east coast boat and its not spoken for. My car (his only preorder in the first group) still sits in Japan waiting. You may have to look around but I will guarentee their will be cars on lots, selling for 3K-5K over MSRP, but they will be their.

If you want one then call around and find a dealer now. They may apply you to one of their inbound cars and not jack the price. As shown and the dealer rolls into their show room the price goes up.

my understanding is that only the pre-orders are on the first delivery. though you might be able to talk to a dealer and see if anybody canceled or just decided they didnt weant it after they looked at it. also some dealers may have fabricated some preorders so that they can sale some. we did not but somebody may have not sure, your best bet is to call around and see what the dealers have available, but dont wait too long because if they have one available it wont last long.

My dealer had 8 cars per month = 24 under the pre-order program. They ordered the full allocation whether they had a buyer or not. The first delivery to them is supposedly 8 cars, 7 pre-orders and the dealer demo (with sale hold till Oct/Nov). I know at least one car in the first allocation was a dealer order and it did not make the boat. My RX-8 in the second allocation DID make the boat. So at least in some cases, pre-orders jumped que on dealer orders filling out their allocations.

I think my dealer's allocation was the highest in the area because they have Mazda ELITE dealer status.
