Should the cover slide forward?

Just a little bug...
When I brake the car, the center console cover slides forward. If there is a drink in the cup holder, the cover moves forward and smashes into it. I'm always having to push the cover back. It won't stay put. I don't think this used to happen.

I don't recall mine ever doing that (sliding forward when stopping).
I thought it kind of locks in place. I have to pull it forward to close it. I know they have had problems with the sliding covers before, latch breaking.

mine does it too. I think it is a tab on the left side of the cover(when closed) that has broke off or malfunctioning. it slides along the guides and also locks it in place when pulled back.

Thanks Easy_E1 and Wankleman. I was going to ask the dealer to check it out, but wasn't sure if it was broken, or not. Sounds like it is.

Mine did that, and I confirmed that it was the tab broken up. The dealership replaced it under warranty.

it shouldn't do it if you have pushed it back all of the way - mine has done the same thing, but only when I didn't lock it in place.

Got the car serviced today. They replaced the cover under warranty.

They also replaced the passenger side tail light cover because it had moisture. They also replaced the front plugs, flashed the PCM, and topped off the gas tank. They found no problems with engine or cat.

Sounds like you have a good dealer. Count yourself lucky.
