Should I buy one?
Hi guys Im from Istanbul,Turkey I currently have a 2006 Mini Cooper S GP.
I want to buy a 2008 RX8 here that I saw local its 9000km at the moment , but im scared of the rotory horror stories I have heard, and I think the mazda service here is unqualified about rotaries, I mean if something goes wrong, its either a new crate engine or I find someone who knows their work...
Now at performance upgrades part...I want to make 300whp reliably...I also heard of a company in australia who made ceramic apex seals??(heard apex seals crap out most often) where would I get those?
Im also looking for supercharger kits since I heard Greddy turbo is too problematic, I have either Hymee or Pettit on my mind, If anybody knows how much WHP hymee would make with supporting mods, please say so...
Also fueling system would be an issue, Where would I buy direct replacement fuel pumps that'll fit like stock and provide fuel enough, Also injectors and fuel rails...
With that being said...Hope you guys can point me in the right direction, I dont know much about rotaries.
Also if you can tell me some good online shops I can look up parts I can order from, thatd be great
PS This is the car im looking at:

Well as for reliable the rotary is great yes it does take a little more maintenance than a civic but nothing too crazy.....
for 300whp you're on the right track with a s/c I personally have only seen the pettit in person on a few diff cars....very nice I believe the one on the dyno was 303WHP but not quite sure....
as for finding parts there are many vendors on this site that will have almost all your needs just use the search function and u can find anything.....
that 8 looks pretty good as long as it's a good deal...since I'm not sure what any of those number mean haha....

Making 300whp will be difficult, require a lot of modifications to accommodate the FI, and it will require a good amount of knowledge about this engine and FI itself. It will be a very expensive project. If you are set on doing so, check out the major HP upgrade section of this forum. If you aren't willing to donate so much time and money, I would suggest looking at a different car.

Ask in the HP upgrade forum if you're really serious. Adding power to the 8 isn't nearly as easy as with most piston cars, you really need to know what you're doing.
Reliability is OK for a sports car as long as you maintain it well, but adding FI changes things. Ceramic apex seals aren't a magic bullet that will allow you to go FI without problems, it's going to take more than that (the apex seals were an infamous weak spot on the FD but the 8 is a different car with different seals). Keep in mind that the Renesis has a pretty high compression ratio to begin with, it's not really made for FI.
If you just want to buy a fast car and make it faster, there are better choices. Going FI with an 8 takes a lot of dedication and knowledge about rotaries.
