It could be that owner 1 traded it into a dealer(owner 2). Dealer then sells it to Owner 3. Owner 3 trades it in to the dealer(owner #4).
So technically, you would be owner #3.

Or: Owner 1 crashed it and insurance rebuilds it but it drives horrably so he sells it. Owner 2 buys it and crashes it again in which his insurance company rebuilds and then owner 2 sells it. Owner 3 buys it and realizes its a horrible car to transport used diapers from the clinic he runs and sellls it. owner 4 buys it and not only does it drive funny but it smells **** * ** * *** bad.

I say you should test drive a few and get a general feeling for how the car should drive. If this car doesn't drive the same or you feel less power. Don't buy it.
Also, you can buy the car 'subject to mazda inspection'. I think it costs $100 but it's worth it imo.
