Should I get the RX-8....
I am debating about whether to trade in my 2006 Mazda3-S for a 2004 RX-8 Winning Blue Automatic. The RX-8 has everything including Navigation. It only has 8,800 miles on it. I test drove it today there was a rattling noise coming from the moonroof is this normal? Otherwise the car was awesome. They want $22,995 for it. What do you think is a fair value for the car? Would I be better off waiting for the 2006 RX-8 with the 6-speed Automatic the 212hp?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You have a 2006 car and want to trade it in? Did you get it last week? I can see this thread getting very long and angry since it's such an subjective question. I don't know about the moonroof (sorry). If you wait for the 2006 RX-8's they're going to be expensive, but you'll get exactly what you want. I think $23k seems like a very good deal with that mileage, but then again it's a 2004. I personally think if power is slightly important to you, you should wait and test drive the 2006's. They probably won't come out till around April so the one you're looking at may not be there, but I would still wait.

Why the Auto? try the 6-speed before you buy the auto. There asking $22,995? not a really good deal on a 2004 rx-8 auto used even its with navi. I did alot of research on Rx-8 price and thats fair a bit. Im a salesmen myself and I know that's not a fair price. My mazda gave me a deal $4000 off all rx-8 RIGHT NOW say that compare to other dealer and say you can get your rx-8 somewhere else. I know there gonna not just let you walk out without dropping the price because come on they dont want there commission walking to someon else. My advice talk to him gettin lower and other mazda asking $4000+ on all there new 2005 rx-8's because the production of the 2006 is coming soon!
P.S DRIVE THE 6-SPEED BEFORE YOU BUY THE AUTO!

why a used 1? you can get the same price on a BRAND new 2005 rx-8 with that price without navi and with navi just a little more think about it. Ask yourself why buy a used rx-8? It wont feel as good as getting a fresh clean start and knowing your gonna take care fo the rotary from day 1 then someone else right?

I think you should do this trade then trade the 2004 for the very first 2006 AT in April. And then decide you really should have gotten the manual and trade the 2006 AT for a 2007 MT towards the end of the year (or whenever the first 2007 pops up on the lot).
Someone in this world ought to be happy, might as well be your Mazda dealer.
Edit: Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Maybe I dont understand your full situation, but I am assuming from the fact that you are looking at buying a used 2004, that you dont exactly have money to throw away. Using that assumption, I would have to say that you would be seriously upside down in your payments for the Mazda3. You do realize you would be losing a great deal of money on this, right?

you dont sound financially responsible for trading things in every 6mos
you dont sound like you know anything about the car for valuing nav over transmission
you dont care about reliability as youd rather go back 2 years and loose on warranty
than i guess youre just picking colors and shapes ... hmm ... how about an aquarium with a nice fishy in it

btw .. i have lots of respect for the 3 and would be happy with that car .. its probably mazdas best bet in the market since it came out .. and the small car market is probably the most competitive
so that was a good choice
