I have a question about rims and tires, from what i understand if you get bigger rims you have a more bumpy, but stiffer ride. However with smaller rims that are wider, you end up having the best of both worlds, but the looks aren't all there. can you tell me whether this info i got is accurate?
Good suspension is not cheap, but you can find entry level stuff if you look like Tein (which also some good mid grade stuff, too.) Also, folks here part out barely used bits. If you are quick, you can find good stuff a half the cost. You will never find Ohlins that way, but I found a good set of JICs used. They definitely are better than stock (well, the springs are stiffer) ride well and will hold me over till I get a better set. I still wouldn't pay more than 3-4 grand for this car though, unless it was for a comp.

As for wheels, find the lightest, widest wheel and tire that you can find. Go for 17 or 18 inch wheels. Any bigger and they just get heavier with no performance gain. 285 series tires will fit and provide SO much grip. You should be able to get well under stock weight per corner with 275 rubber. That is 5 centimeters extra width from stock.

Considering how this thread started, you are getting some good info from folks. Listen carefully.

Don't get me wrong. I am really grateful for all of your opinions. sorry i get offended kinda easily. I have been reading what everyone has to say and have been taking notes as well. So I appreciate all of your constructive criticism and I will look into some other schools mainly the Skip Barber Racing School.

Don't push the engine! Just poke it with a stick.
